@tallmn1957 for me any monument that offends or it is a symbol of oppression to any race of people should be on private property and not city or state sponsored. For example if someone wants to display a rebel flag in their yard or on their vehicle they have every right to do that. Since many people of color find the rebel flag to be offensive it shouldn't be flown at state capitols or any government buildings. No one has the right to vandalize something because they don't like it or agree with it, let the disagreement play out in the court s. Most monuments that have been removed was due to a change of attitudes and the times. When I think of Nascar banning the rebel flag it's because someone understood that it had a negative connotation to many people who loved the sport but felt uncomfortable to attend a race in person.
