In my opinion, it's good for her that she did not win this contest. That takes away a huge chunk from the haters who would have said, "She only won American Idol because Loretta Lynn was her Grandmother". Now, she can focus on her music career. Regardless of getting a record deal, she has the unique opportunity to do this on her own, without a major label at this time. There are several people in her family that are in the music industry, including her Mom Patsy, her Aunt Peggy, her Cousin Tayla, and her Great Aunts Peggy Sue Wright and Crystal Gayle. With there already being a recording studio on Loretta Lynn's Ranch and the connections her family has, she can start her own record label. She has everything she needs to make it. Still, something tells me a major label is going to sign her. Her self-confidence is only going to continue to grow.
