How could anyone NOT shed a tear listening to this stunning performance. It’s heart-wrenching

It must have been around 1976 when I first heard Emmylou Harris singing “Boulder to Birmingham” on my car radio. Even though I was mainly into rock, not country, I immediately turned my car around and headed straight to a record store and bought the album. I have listened to this song at least once a week for the past 47 years. She wrote this after the death of Gram Parsons, whom she worked with early on in her career. Anyway, thanks for the heartfelt reaction. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Wow! I’ll have to check out the album. Yes, I was into hard rock then -Joplin, Steppenwolf. But hearing bluegrass at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival 1971 was like - Wow, what’s this? I still have the album I bought that day. It’s time to take it out again. I’ve never heard of the band - but to be chose to perform that day meant that they were fine indeed. I thought they were amazing!!

You might add: "Till I Gain Control Again" (sic) "The Last Cheater's Waltz" "Save the Last Dance for Me" "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" "Those Memories of You" (with Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt) "1917" "Across the Border" (with Linda Ronstadt and Neil Young) "Magnolia Wind" (with John Prine) "Slow Surprise"

I believe that every recording artist has one song that stands out above all the others in their repertoire. For EmmyLou Harris, Boulder to Birmingham is that song.

I discovered Emmylou around 1985. By then, with less than a decade in country music, she was already revered like Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, and Dottie West! She is just such an amazing singer and musician!

Boulder to Birmingham This is one of the most beautiful songs I know. It's a true hymn to life, and Emmylou managed to convey all the anguish of Gram's loss, penetrating deep into our hearts and minds. With this, she keeps Gram always alive in our memory, even 50 years after his early disappearance. They say that between Gram and Emmylou there was only a feeling of friendship. I contest: she could always declare this because she is a person of integrity and honest with her feelings, but, deep down in her soul, her connection, her connection with Gram, was much deeper. They completed each other and the only reason they didn't go together was because of the absurd conventions of our world, and the path set by destiny for their lives. Just listen to the other song that Emmylou made in memory of Gram: The Road... another beautiful and poignant page of American music, to see the real meaning of Gram in Emmylou's journey.

Great job Tasha. This song was about the death of her friend and mentor Graham Parsons. Some of his friends stole Graham's body and tried to cremate him in Joshua Tree National Park. They didn't have enough fuel and botched the cremation. Song makes mention of a burning canyon, etc. Parsons died of an overdose. His wish was to be cremated and his ashes scattered in Joshua Tree. His family had other plans.

It's easy to get lost in that voice. I saw her perform in a small venue in Houston back in the 80's. She sounded exactly like her albums, didn't miss a note. That was my favorite performance & i've seen many of the greats in the 70's & 80s though i did see Elvis & Jerry Lee Lewis in the 60's when i was a kid, Jerry Lee was a madman.

I love your reaction. Her voice, and this song is so Beautiful that anyone would have to not be human to. E moved to tears by this. Emmylou Harris was the reason I got into country music back in the mid 1970s. I’ve never looked back. Check out some of her other earlier work.,duets with Roy Orbison, That Loving You Feeling Again, and Don Williams, Of I Needed You. And George Jones, All Fall Down. And her version of the Townes Van Zandt classic, “Poncho and Levty.” Which was a huge hit cor Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. Anything Emmylou has recorded is beautiful.

মরুভূমিতে ছিলাম, প্রেমের গান শুনতে চাই না..বোল্ডার থেকে বার্মিংহাম পর্যন্ত হেঁটে যাব.. 😭😞 Lyrics: I don't wanna hear a love song I got on this airplane just to fly And I know there's life below me But all that you can show me is a prairie and the sky And I don't wanna hear a sad story Full of heartbreak and desire The last time I felt like this I was in the wilderness and the canyon was on fire And I stood on the mountain In the night and I watched it burn I watched it burn, I watched it burn I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham I would hold my life in his saving grace I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham If I thought I could see, I could see your face Well, you really got me this time And the hardest part is knowing I'll survive I've come to listen for the sound Of the trucks as they move down out on ninety-five And pretend that it's the ocean Coming down to wash me clean, to wash me clean Baby, do you know what I mean I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham I would hold my life in his saving grace I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham If I thought I could see, I could see your face If I thought I could see, I could see your face
