Played this tune for my mother back then. My grandparents had passed away by then. Mom started singing along, and crying. Power of music.

Another classic song by Emmy. She is just the most versatile singer, song writer, performer. She elevates every song to the highest levels. No praise is enough for Emmy. She is in a league by herself. Unmatchable.

The song "Orphan Girl" was written by Gillian Welch. Emmylou's songs are wonderful as well :)

One of the great and perfect collaborations in contemporary music. I had followed Emmylou from the mid 70s, but when I bought this CD, she had moved and expanded into a totally new direction. Great to see this interview.

110% felt the same. Wrecking Ball is indeed a masterpiece. You’re brought on a blessed journey while listening. Theses songs stay with you. I wonder how many people recognize what they just heard. Tough gig to interview these giants in a format like this one. . I give her credit, she gave it her best shot. Check out Rick Beato interviews for the real deal.

Such unique talents together. Take a listen to Lanois' song "Ma jolie Louise" with him singing or Isabelle Boulay's version. Very interesting, with French and English being sung consecutively.

She is a women so gracefully beautiful she is held together by the softest kisses of the Holy Spirit: joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

I know I freely give out free-energy in authentic complements. But no one sings of the Graces of Holy Ghost like Emmylou. does.

Beautiful vocal performance by Emmylou, but I can't stop thinking that Daniel Lanois looks like actor Mickey Rourke with those shades on.

And sure what’s wrong with looking Mickey Rourke? He was a fine-looking fellow in his youth, though I didn’t think much of him the first and only time I met him. Myself and a friend, two recent visitors to New York from Ireland, were on a boat that steamed around Manhattan and Irish music played for the heaps of Irish and nearly Irish people on board. It was a fundraiser of course, and it is possible that Rourke was one of the attractions. My friend nearly swooned when she saw him. “Mickey Rourke, Irene!” I look where she is pointing and see two average-looking white guys. I don’t know which of the two is Mickey Rourke, but it doesn’t matter. Then Maggie says, “I would love to have a photo of him, but I’m too shy to ask him.” “I’ll ask him”, said I, and off I went, approached the two guys and said, “which of you two gentlemen is Mickey Rourke? My friend over there would like a photo please.” Both guys looked a bit cross, but the one who then looked a little abashed I took to be Rourke, because the other fellow had given me a look of disgust, as if to say, “you have some nerve!” Well, Rourke, modestly enough, stood for a photo, and I went back to Maggie. Was he too shy to approach her and allow her to be photographed with him? Like, it woodenah killed him! Never mind. Now when I see an old image of a young Mickey Rourke, I can appreciate his beauty; years ago I couldn’t because coming from the homogeneity of Ireland, I was attracted only to people who looked very un-Irish, so Mickey Rourke had nothing going for him, he was just like the lads at home.

@@irenemax3574 Great story, Irene. I meant the Mickey Rourke comparison as a compliment. I still remember sitting in a movie theater in early Sept. 1981 and watching his scene-stealing performance in "Body Heat," and then a year later he did the same in "Diner." He was the very definition of "cool" on the big screen.
