its because Breaking Bad took home all the Emmys in so many categories every year!! Albeit, Breaking Bad was a phenomenal show, Mad Men was equally as amazing and the writing was so fantastic. But I can at least rest somewhat easy knowing Jon got to take home one Emmy for his incredible role as Drapper, even though he truly deserved so many more!
@@treegerl I was watching this Jon Hamm interview and he said something that I still think about to this day. I'm paraphrasing. But he basically said Mad Men had the opposite Breaking Bad effect. Meaning that everyone LOVED Mad Men at first and towards the end of the series only the core true fans remained. While breaking Bad nobody knew about the show in the beginning, and then became this huge success. Which honestly is so true if you think about it.
He literally had to crawl his way up for that award! All those years he was up against Bryan Cranston, Hugh Laurie, Michael C. Hall, Kevin Spacey, and the other great actors. So happy he finally got an Emmy. Love Elizabeth Moss cheering like crazy!
@@ranjanmaithani6263 I feel like it was more of a different kind of role problem. Mad Men is a way more grounded and realistic drama while Breaking Bad is an intense and dramatic journey. It's obvious that the Walter White character was way more prone to get awards.
SIXTEEN nominations?!? 😲 Now that's an achievement of its own! And needless to say, Hamm's Emmy couldn't have been more deserved. 👏🏾 As you can tell by the audience's euphoric reactions, this was one of the most overdue recognitions in Emmy history!
At the end, he thanks "Cora:. The John Hamm buffs may already know, but for those who do not know, he was thanking a furry friend for her support. Cora was his beloved dog who passed away a few years later. He thanked her in his speech, which just delights me. This man is a charm.
90% of the Mad Men cast deserve an Emmy, and Jon obviously needs one for every season..how is this the only Emmy received???? The best show of all time.
Obviously they knew Jon was long overdue, same goes to Leonardo DiCaprio in winning an Oscar. You can tell from the reaction that everyone knew that moment was extremely long overdue
@@PeakyBlinders1870 i think it's just the madmen theme. Just like every other emmy winner, the theme song is played. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vD12mZiFPtM.html
@@TraceurDom oh fuck off you dipshit. As if someone commenting that 4 years ago could've just guessed who in this room of hundreds are sexual predators. What's even the point you're making?
I'm just glad Mad Men went on longer than Breaking Bad because Jon Ham deserves his win! As legendary as Cranston's was in Breaking Bad, no TV episode has broke me like Person to Person. It just captures the hollowness of life so well and seeing Don breakdown was just the best.
It was extraordinary to see this moment! We fans waited for so long. So deserving! What a great way to say goodbye to this show. It wouldn't be fair at all to come to an end without this award.
Out of my favorite shows (Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, Dexter, and Hell on Wheels) Mad Men is my favorite and Don Draper is my favorite character. I still can't believe it took them that long to finally give him the award.
2 words.... VINCENT KARTHEISER! Emmy's obsession with certain actors and snubbing others was always a damn joke. The story arc and overall evolution of Pete Campbell as a living, breathing human was made possible by big VK! I don't ever recall him being nominated even once for his portrayal. If he has, it's news to me. Go MAD MEN...😎🇵🇷🇺🇸📽😉🗽🦂
My guy...he brought a cerebral edginess to 'Don Draper' that I don't think anyone else could've given to this role. He was 'out of control' for most of the series, but he always had an integrity that showed up when it came to characters, be them black or white, that weren't as fortunate as his character was.
So glad he finally won. He just so happened to be on TV during the golden age of TV acting, and also directly in competition with Bryan Cranston for most of the time. Glad he got his due.
Does anybody else think that it's a bit weird the way Christina Hendricks reacted to Jon's win? I mean, she remained seated clapping while her colleague collected a very much deserved award. If you look at Elisabeth Moss' reaction, she basically jumps off her seat in happiness, and is giving him a standing ovation while smiling like crazy. Don't know, just felt it was a bit strange such a deflated response.
I noticed that, too. Just by her body language, she A) doesn't seem to like him that much or B) they had a disagreement of sorts behind the scenes and she's upset about that. If they were on good terms, I'd expect her to have had a reaction like Elisabeth Moss', where she was smiling and clearly very happy for her co-star.
Did he and Christina Hendricks not get on? Elisabeth Moss couldn't be more excited and Christina's just looking around wondering why everyone is standing up.
16th nomination! WOW... FUN FACT: Jon became a producer for Mad Men during seasons 5-7, so while he was nominated for Best Drama Series as a producer for those later seasons, he missed out on 4 Emmys for seasons 1-4. 😕
I don't like that he was nominated 16 times and didn't win any before but come one season 7 of mad men was absolutely amazing jon hamm really did some of his best acting in that season alone the others were good but season seven was just amazing.
I really feel bad for john hamm for the year's he was up against Bryan Cranston. (or to all nominees up against him) but what a great way to end the series and finally getting one after 16 noms!
The way he get up in the stage its looking funny and its really funny but its also tell you what its take from him to reach there absolutely deserved 👏
In another timeline where he didn't have to compete against Bryan Cranston in BB, imagine how much more awards he could get. Amazing actor and deserved for a long time
siiiim! nossa, tanta profundidade na atuação dele. to reassistindo a 5 temporada (minha favorita) e chega a ser ridículo o fato dele só ter ganho um emmy pela série.
I don’t know how he didn’t win earlier. Madmen was a outstanding tv show with amazing acting and the fact that the cast didn’t win many Emmys just shows that the Emmy’s are rigged.
Mad Men was a great show and jon hamm has always been great in it... but I feel the last season wasn't his best... but they had to give him an award for such a great show right?
+alansjf33 I felt he was deserving and great throughout. Spacey in H.O.C is just being typical Spacey. His performance, to me, is fun but nothing special. Don Draper is one of TV's iconic characters and Hamm rightly won.
So happy that he won! Many brilliant actors like Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Hugh Laurie (House), Bob Odenkirk (BCS), Michael Sheen (West Wing), Steve Carell (The Office) didn't win one single Emmy for their superb performances. Bonus: Sandra Oh and Michael K. Williams
