The European Migration Network (EMN) provides up-to-date, comparable and objective information on migration and asylum in the EU. The EMN was established in 2008 by Council Decision 2008/381/EC and is coordinated by the European Commission.
The EMN strives to meet the information needs of policymakers and the wider public at both national and European levels. Our network includes representatives from every Member State and Norway. We identify under-researched and issue-led topics across all aspects of migration and asylum policy, from labour migration and integration, to family reunification, international protection, trafficking in human beings and return.
In 2020 the EMN has conducted a study on ‘Comparative overview of national protection statuses in the EU and Norway’. With the help of EMN Ireland (emn.ie/), EMN Belgium (emnbelgium.be/) has made a short video which explores the main types of national protection statuses, and presents the key findings of this study.
