bert is amazing! he’s a very sweet guy, people just painted him as “evil” because he’s been out as bi since 2003 (so they thought he was predatory) and he shows symptoms of ptsd (which is a “scary” illness, unlike anxiety or depression)

gerard got clean in late 2004 after his suicide attempt. the famous interview where they hug and talk about making out is from early 2005. they have both said that the fight isn’t because of that.

the used r basically one of the bands that made mcr popular by taking them on tour and bert and gerard became very close friends, even writing romantic songs about each other, until in late 2005 they had a fight over creative differences (bert thought the black parade was too pretentious and gerard took it extremely personally) and they were mad for each other for a couple of years, then they calmed down and just didn’t talk, but in the last few years they’ve started talking to each other again and they became close friends again. one common misconception is that they fell out because gerard got sober, but that’s not true, as that happened in september 2004 and they were extremely close and comfortable around each other until mid/late 2005
