Art amaze me , putting the emotions on a canvas by colors and strokes of a brush , is actually a way of self treatment , appreciation and gratitude of life or resentment , as poetry words lead our emotions , in a painting our eyes are the window to all emotions .

Jill, I know that you will get tired of hearing this, but your videos are so over the top. The quality of these videos are so well done. I honestly believe that they top and surpass any commercial film or video on the market. your work would be at home with anything on the Discovery channel or any other channel that would show such work. I have enjoyed art and decades (actually more than a half a century). I viewed many films when in school. None are as impressive as your work here. Thanks again.

Truth. I have told my son that, if he wishes to remember me after I have left this world, to say to himself,"She was helpless in the face of beauty." I can think of nothing better to say about my love for it, all of it that I have seen and known, in all its magicks. There is nothing better.

From time to time i go back to this video. I just sit and watch it all. It makes me glat that i am a human being

i think of pictures vs paintings and paintings have so much more feelings when you see them, even if its the same scene paintings strokes just and colours make it move my inner being when i look at it. theres just more to see than just more to be able to look at

Wow! Jill, this was incredible. This video had a profound impact on me! I am a person who finds art, music, and emotion in general, very difficult to access. I have always wanted to see, hear, and feel what other people do when they experience art, but it’s mostly remained locked to me. I appreciate art, but it’s always been in a cheap mechanical sense (I.e appreciating the skill a painting would have required, but never receiving the message the artist wanted to convey). This production did something special though, and you gave me a glimpse into how normal people see art. You unlocked it for me. I think because it was “educational” in nature, and because the voice and music were kinda entrancing, I was lulled into complete concentration. Then when you showed and described the art, I saw it as it was meant to be seen. Thank you!

I find it gives off a certain light and is healing. After I became deaf, I went to the art museums to heal in Washington, DC. I would come home filled with light and feeling wonderful. I think Buddhist monks are aware of this light, too.

Jill, I just re-viewed this video. I can't add anything more to the comment that I shared a year ago. Everything that I said then is so much more true after viewing this at least a second time. You do have a way to not only paint with the brush and paints, but you have a way to 'paint' with your words and that ever-so soft, pleasing, and expressive voice. Jill, you are very creative daughter of God who generously shares her talents. Thank you so much for all you have done and do now.

Your videos are works of art in and of themselves. I’ve learned so much from them

I especially liked John McCartin’s, “Morning Mood.” He breaks the rule of not splitting a painting in half, but it works anyway bc of the symmetrical trees on each side in the midground. His use of darker colors in mid-upper portion of the right side of the painting that compliments the sunlit left side of the main tree so well, is quite masterfully done. nobody might ever see this comment or read it but this video just made a guys that has lost everything he cared for discharge in a sense these 12.03min video litteraly made my way of thinking just a bit brighter i made some final vital important desitions after this video i will remember this lesson for the rest of my life to some it might look like just another troll comment or just another video that they been expecting out this channel for me i think it felt diffirent i never watch inspiration i never needed it.THIS was that pray i did when i was just 12years old for me this was just a recomended yuotube algorithm, exacly what i needed what i needed not for pleasure for a source of hope a little push to be what i dream and now i feel like i can move Mountains thanks subscribed for me what you guys do if something that people go to church for well atleast what church was pacticed for to find and listen to the inner fire of who you actualy are and yeah im using my sons pc or i dont understand some things in my life i wish i saw this when it was the time to change but even now when everything is in the past you look for something to give you that boost of i want another sun to set in front of my eyes becose its my life and its mine only to guide and this will all make sense if you told me whats on your mind mabie i can help you text me im glad to help

Jill, your narrative is well said. When I draw or paint, I feel as though I'm in my own private little world. It's such a wonderful feeling knowing one can express themselves through their work. It's really helpful for young artists and it had alot to understand about art. Honestly i never understood what was emotion thing with art was but always attracted to be an artist. Today i understand how to express feelings through art. Grateful to you thankyou😃

I have always had an emotional reaction to the Nefertiti Bust Sculpture. Perhaps I am odd. I feel something for her. It is beyond my appreciation for a beautiful woman. Maybe someday I can thoroughly put the feelings into words.

I was only painting when battling depression. A bit strange, but we all find different ways to cope with reality.

I just found your channel and really enjoyed how informative and well made your videos are. I wanted to thank you for the effort you put into your videos. This one in particular struck a chord in me- I’ve been feeling jaded and tired of the constant competition and the unhealthy culture among my peers to constantly produce profitable work. I’m not really sure why I paint anymore, who I’m painting for and why. This video reminded me of what drew me to art in the first place: emotion. Experiencing it, expressing it, and sharing it. I need to find that again in my work. Thank you Jill.

Wow I am totally fascinated & drawn into your documentary about painting with emotion & how the painter is able to express his moods, spatial awareness & above all his or her skill with the brush or pallet. It was well researched & the paintings are perfect. Many appear to look like they have been photographed. Your voice, pitch & diction just blends so immaculately with those masterpieces. I am unable to paint, but I have always been mesmerised & totally glued to any documentaries or programmes concerning any form of art. 4 kinds of meaning in art- Emotional is just one of them, Intellectual, spiritual, aesthetic and intellectual are also valid types of meaning in art.

Your videos are such wonderful lessons in art; I've been absorbing them between my own art sessions. Having studied ancient art and Egypt in particular, I can offer a few small insights there. Most of the art from Egypt that comes down to us is portraits of officials. Much like portraits of important figures on coins or public monuments, they tend to express emotions of controlled dignity, power, greatness, authority, wisdom, and calm. It's the Latin concept of "gravitas," both "seriousness" and "gravity." But there's also a certain lightness to Egyptian art, a faint smile to the lips and eyes, a sort of beaming benevolence: life is good, in their world. All these things reflect the central value of ancient Egypt: stability, versus the evil forces of chaos. For them, the most important thing was repetition and continuity: that the river rose year after year to renew the harvest, so that everyone was fed; that magistrates and geometers marked out the boundary lines of the fields again after the floods receded; that cut stone and mummy preserved images of gods and kings, and the bodies of loved ones so that their souls would have an anchor in the afterlife for all of eternity. So their art serves the secondary purpose of preserving the transient. Just in case one's earthly body is destroyed, images preserve a memory of you. Therefore portraits of people set in tombs tend to depict people in a sort of "neutral" setting, sitting calmly, looking straight out at the world, in a stable, permanent form. However, if you change your searches to seek out Egyptian wall paintings you'll find a different aspect of Egyptian life. There they attempt to capture the good things in life which they hoped would follow them into the afterlife: the wildlife along the banks of the Nile, dancing girls and musicians, calm domestic scenes and feasts, a cat scratching its master's leg under a chair, and yes, servants bringing you good food and drink. The people are still depicted in a stylized fashion, but the graceful lines, the curves, the colors, and especially the eye to detail in the depiction of waterfowl and fish and plants shows how they felt about their world: life is good! They had a burgeoning civilization along the river, life in the middle of a desert! And they hoped the next world would be like that too, life in death. All their funerary goods, far from being morbid, were luxuries and mementoes they hoped to enjoy in the afterlife, in the belief that you can take it with you. They believed that through art, their souls would have immortality. Art and writing for them were a special of magic: preserving the transient in a fixed form for all time. The stillness of their art reflects that magic. Chaos cannot wither nor destroy the things and people they loved. That's a common conceit expressed in many later ancient cultures, from the Greek and Latin poets right up through Shakespeare almost to modern times: artists are those who gift their patron, lovers, heroes and sitters with immortality, ensuring they are not forgotten. Apologies for going off on a tangent on one very tiny comment in your excellent discussion, but I'm trying to do for others what you do for us: provide ways to see what artists are doing and understand better what we are looking at.

I find alphonse muchas slav epic extremely compelling. I insist you check it out if you havent already. I am not religious but I am still moved by his extreme commitment to his faith and his people. The story behind the works is also interesting!

I want to express my feeling of frustration for wanting to be a great artist, but not yet having the brush skills! This video is Amazing, thank you!

My definition is that the eye sees the object and the hand paints it via the mind.

About 5 years ago me and my wife bid on a painting by the late French painter Maurice Ehlinger in auction. We were unprepared because we basically discovered it 15 minutes before the auction and knew nothing about the artist. It went way over estimate (in hindsight still cheap) and at a certain point we chickened out and let it go. The painting had touched us so much that we both felt sick to our stomach for weeks for missing it. Now we own (if i'm not mistaken) 15 paintings by Maurice Ehlinger that we collected from all over the world. On some we bid getting up at night here in the US because it was an auction in Paris, France, we won 3 in that auction and flew to Paris ourselves to pick them up. While arranging that trip i also discovered that one was for sale on a French second hand site, contacted the seller and picked that up in a little Parisian cafe on the same trip. We found a few in the US after that, one in England, one in Canada, one in Zurich, had a lovely correspondence with the 80+ year old author of the catalogue raisonné on Maurice Ehlinger (and through him with Maurice Ehlinger's (now deceased) son about the history of our particular paintings. One of them they didn't have documentation on, so we sent them detailed photo's. And discovered (trought the painter's son) that another one we own was made in Paris during the war, and the girl that modeled in that painting modeled for him during most of WW2 and supported her entire family through the war with the money she made from the modeling... Also, the only other big collector we know off that collects paintings by Maurice Ehlinger is François Demachy, head Perfumer of DIOR, he made a perfume inspired by the works of Maurice Ehlinger called Miss Dior Eau Fraîche. I tracked down the perfume (which was very hard to find and only available in France) and bought my wife a bottle for a birthday, so she now has a DIOR perfume that she can wear that was inspired by the painter of the paintings she is surrounded by in her dressing and throughout the rest of our house. Yes, art can trigger strong emotions, influence your life, create connections you'd otherwise wouldn't have had, and touch you even more when you discover the details behind the work (and life of the artist) when you research it. Ps. I almost forgot about this one, my wife is an author, and one of her covers that i designed for her (The Girl In The Painting by Max Monroe) has one of our paintings in the background and was an inspiration and muse for the story.
