I feel absolutely terrible for Gordon and all of the staff in the Amy's Baking co episode. You can see it in Gordon's eyes that he was so taken back by how Amy and Sammy treated people, he seemed so disappointed when he couldn't help for once and in shock that people can really be that deluded. I think that couple really took a lot out of him. Gordon is an amazing chef and has a great sense of general wisdom however this situation was far beyond his capability, those two need straight-up therapists. You can go above and beyond to try and prove things to these types of people, but it's never enough. Narcissism at its finest. The truth is, these kinds of people don't deserve an ounce of help. Gordon, out of the kindness of his heart did everything he could to try and make them see. Their loss.

This show haunts me every time I go to a restaurant because I can't help wondering if their kitchen doesn't have a freezer filled with the next iteration of plague, since I've seen it in so many restaurants on this show. You never know what the kitchen holds, and you pray the ones you visit are at least half clean, so you get to live another day.

one thing about gordon is that he always appreciates great servers and chefs. in a majority of cases on this show the problems are the owners and managers. he goes out of his way to praise and acknowledge the waiters and the genuinely talented chef while criticizing poor management. he doesn’t just harshly criticize everyone, he recognizes talent and the fact that restaurants are a joint operation.

I have to say, I was really surprised by the owner at 9:10 recognizing his error so quickly and having the humility to admit he'd been holding these two young chefs back. Usually it takes more effort to get owners to recognize the problem, let alone admit their fault. Although I haven't seen the episode so he may be an asshole.

What this show continually proves is that running a restaurant is not nearly as easy as some people seem to believe.

i love that the expert goes into a restaurant, tries a couple items on a menu, gives his expert opinion on and all the cooks are like "who is this fucker who's just destroying everything we've worked on the past 10 minutes with one sentence?"
