Wow this was by FAR my favorite episode! I really like this guy. I have always laughed at the EMOTIONAL DAMAGE thing. But listening to him talk I very much wish him all his success. He is a genuinely happy person and very considerate. That was such a fun episode to listen to. I just chilled on my couch (which I rarely do) and listened to the entire show. Great episode. Wow. I feel very happy and calm right now.

I have a friend from Thailand who has only enough clothes to fit in a suitcase. If he buys new clothes he gives away his old clothes. He saved money like no one I’ve ever met. Never ate out unless he was treating you. And he’d work as much as our store would allow him to. His English wasn’t great and he couldn’t read well in English so he’d have me help him with his bank statements. I remember seeing him going from $1,000 to $5,000 in 3 months. He had to have saved almost every penny other than rent since we made about $2,500 per month where we worked

I can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed this episode. When Steven talked about the dancing chef at the stall on his road to school, I had to pause because that was so impactful! Imagine how grateful people in foreign countries would be to live our lives.

People had always suggested donating leftover food when I did restaurant management. The issue is the storage and transportation of the food to a shelter. If anyone ate the food and got sick the restaurant could be held liable. If food sits out past a certain point or the temp gets out of range it could cause food poisoning and has to be tossed.
@aurelianspodarec2629
@aurelianspodarec2629 8 месяцев назад
Yeah, that's messed up isn't it. And people blame the restaurants for them tossing the food, instead of looking at the liabilities they could face and the fact people can get sick off tht food thus wasting even more money for an ambulance or grave person.

1:19:44 That is such a profound thought/saying. When I think about it, I can see why anger dissolves over time. I think, “what happened to you to act this way? I feel sad that you experienced that. It doesn’t excuse what you’ve done, but I can at least try to understand. I wish innocent/young you had a better life. I wish that can change for you in the future.”

Watch Uncle Roger's podcast interview with Two/Thirds - the podcasters being Jelly and SlogoMan, and why it's "2/3" is because Kwebbelkop was exiled from the group long ago. It was funny all throughout, but got so hilarious near the end before Nigel Ng changed into Uncle Roger, and I watched it the whole way through. I recommend that you should watch that podcast!

@1:06:00 I think the racism that we encounter in those situations of "being racist against the group your intrinsically a part of" comes from viewing someone as a part of the group, and not as an individual. Which is wrong. The "group" doesn't have feelings to hurt, but individual people do, and when we reduce someone to the narrow intersection of their personhood and group identity, it's really hurtful. And the heck of it that's often unintentional.

I love getting to know more about Steven!! Interesting about the whole animal thing. My dad grew up on a pig farm, do he has a similar view as Steven. He would go out and feed a pig that would be on the table for Sunday dinner. To look at it through the lenz of culture and abundance vs necessity, I think that's really true. He such an open guy, I'd love to see more influential people like him!

There's a Scottish comedian, Billy Connelly. He survived a horrific childhood, but he was one of the funniest men I've ever seen. It seems to be a common denominator that the rougher the childhood the funnier the adult. My example of Billy Connelly is just one example of a comedians tough childhood, there's others

@40:59 I understand Graham, the thing is. Most of us find being a content creator as intangible. Yes it is possible to become an influencer but it will take time. It can take 2-3 years to maybe 5 plus years. Now a side hustle means to me. If I can apply for a job: it means i already have what I need and possibly the experience to get that side Job. It offers flexibility and a sustained hourly wage or paycheck. It has a means to an end. It provides me with the hope to cancel debt, save a few extra $$, or possibly early retirement. For me personally, it’s helping me pay off debt, save money 💵, and staying afloat.

41:25 Oddly enough, depending on when you found the creator and how much of their stuff you have watched, I have noticed RU-vid recently recommend a lot of content from a year or two ago. I think it also heavily relies on how much content the channel has available, so if you have someone that does daily content you might not see those pop as much as let's say a weekly podcast like this.

When he talks about the off brand things being prevalent, and the off brand KFC, that’s because of how business in China is structured. To open a business in China, you must have a Chinese national with an ownership stake in the company. This gives the Chinese government access to whatever trade secrets, which allows them to legally create a counterfeit product and begin making and selling those counterfeits. So exporting manufacturing to China literally created the foundation for Chinese knockoffs. It’s quite terrible.
