I'm not kind to cry for so beautiful or sad ending, but even me get wet eyes from this anime. First time I heard about this anime, I was like "Oh yeah, an other romance with no scenario around it" .... if I could punch my past-self... Even if I hate this kind of end (open end) I can't say it's a bad or sad end, cause they finally meet again, and I like to imagine they become friends with their friend's childs or granchilds and live peacefully, cause that's what they deserve...

Bro, to me the last part of episode 24 really hit hard. Squad 13 reunited in memorial of their two best friends, and after that they continue to live their own lives. The scene then shifts to the tree growing larger and larger along with human civilization. Indicating that a 1000 years has passed by and Squad 13 is basically already dead. The legends and stories of Squad 13, Hiro and Zero Two continues to influence generations after generations through a simple picture book. It make me really wish they were all still alive even after so many centuries. Only Hachi and Nana live to tell the tales of those great times they spent with those kids.

First time I watched it. I almost shed a tear, but definitely felt emotional towards the end. But you're right. The ending of this anime was so beautiful but the reason why it didn't get good thoughts was because of the skips and sudden twists and concepts. Even the after EP 17 could be a great success and it was still good but they comprised all that stuff into just a few episodes which left us with many loopholes and questions because all the stuff after EP 17 could literally be made into a whole season it would have turn out awesome!! I just know that anyway I still loved this anime and hope for season 2 cause they were like reincarnated and they announced that virm is still in action so I just hope.

It's been 4 years since last time I watch this series. That time I haven't understand some hard thoughts or something, but I enjoyed it and liked how it ended. I also remember that lots of people didn't like the ending but for me, my opinion. It's a perfect ending. Now that I rewatched it again after a long time, it's still the best.
