Me personally I ride because it’s therapeutic. It gets your mind off of things and helps you take in the world around you in a different way. It makes you feel alive while at the same time making you feel close to death.

You have to be in the moment to ride a motorbike, otherwise it's simply dangerous.

@@jonathanroberts9912 Absolutely. It takes 120% of your focus which helps take your mind off of other things.

People call us suicidal. We don't ride because we want to die, we ride because we want to live. I feel free when I ride. Sometimes I just start smiling for no reason when I ride. I can accelerate faster than most production cars on the road. When you ride, you're part of the environment, feeling the wind, the sun, smelling the trees and flowers (and sometimes roadkill🤢)..your feet are inches off of the ground, and a simple thing like a deer running in front of you could very well take your life, so you're HYPER AWARE! All of your senses are focused..I could go on..

They call bikes "unsafe" because they come with no crash protection, but no one mentions how much better bikes are for avoiding a collision to begin with (when you know what you're doing). If anything, I feel a good bit safer on mine. I know I can evade much better.

People on motorcycles wave at each other as they pass. People in cars will look at you like you're crazy if you wave, or flip you the bird. Figure that one out, and you'll understand why we ride

Because we are crazy enough to ride this bike and take the risk of being hit by a car or enduring the harsh weather or enjoying the beautiful weather, we all know that we share the same riding conditions which doesn't exist in car world

There is a certain freedom that one gets when he rides a motorcycle. Riding a motorcycle is probably one of the only times that you are fully integrated into a machine. You are operating it with both hands and feet. Riding gives you immediate feedback of the environment around you. Motorcycles are engineering works of art. Look at a BMW R8 or a Harley Davidson Street Glide. There are moving works of art. This apprecialton is why we ride.

I get that from riding and sailing solo. Best day for me is to ride a bit, then sail, and ride on home the scenic route.either one you must be there in the moment.

If I die doing something I love to do is it really a tragedy. It is the most free I can feel. I can’t explain. I’m willing to sit in traffic sweating just to hit those gears.

This has a lot of things but nothing about “why we ride” from a riders perspective. It’s more about the philosophy of product development. Good information but title is a clickbait.

This guy's full of it...the reasons people ride motorcycles is as diverse as the people who ride them...nostalgia is only a teeny, tiny part of it, if it's a part of it at all...it's fun, it gets way better gas mileage than a car, getting where you're going isn't a chore it's an adventure...& that's just a few of the many reasons people ride motorcycles, there's not enough room in the comments to list every single one, but the #1 reason people ride motorcycles is that they're the coolest vehicles on the road...

If I had the money, I'd own 10 motorcycles of various types/purposes. They are mood-dependent, at least for me. Nothing else like it.

I live in New York State and I bought my first motorcycle at 55 years old. Since I was 20, ai always wanted one but did not have the money. Why did I want one? When I was 11, I saw - who I thought were cool kids riding mini bikes and dirt bikes. I was like wow, I wish I could have one but my family did not have money. When I was 20 I literally used to visit a shop and drool over a 1982 Yamaha Virago. It was like a girl I wanted to marry. LOL. So when I bought my first bike, a 750 Honda Shadow, I found my 2nd wife and fell in love. I put 26,000 on her and then moved up to a 2009 Harley Low Rider and have put 25,000 miles on my 3rd wife!! Every time I throw a leg over a motorcycle I thank God for the ability to do so, and think to myself - just like 52 years ago - “this is so cool”. What product on Earth can elicit that emotion? Dude, thanks for the talk. It confirmed all the things I feel about riding. BTW, when I have the cash, I going to buy a fully restored 1982 Virago for the nostalgia!!

I just bought a chopper style of motorcycle (the Big Dog K9 to be exact) and am still waiting for its delivery. Many times I over think things, and this is no different. Have been feeling a bit of stress as I question why I bought this bike. I know it's not the most reliable or practical type of bike. However, I owned one many years ago and I always just loved the feeling of riding that style of bike. Then I sold it and bought a more practical bike. It was a fine machine, until it broke down to the point where repairing it was not practical. And for years I couldn't let go of the feeling of missing the chopper. Hence the purchase of the chopper. I can really relate now to the emotional aspect of my choice. I can justify my purchase based on the mere fact that it brings me joy. And yet, there is still that "knowledge" part of it as I know what I'm getting into, and it's not breaking the bank. Is it the most practical choice? No. Is it the choice that fits mostly into what it is I desire? Yes. Interesting video as he gets into the ingredients of our behaviors...our choices. All makes sense to me.

I ride motorcycles, quads, bicycles--anything that moves where you are out in the open with the wind in your hair. It's definitely therapeutic. I go into a purely experiential mode, almost meditative. You're not really thinking about in particular, just watching the world go by. There is the beautiful scenery, the winding roads, the adrenaline rush of speed if you want it. It all comes together in a beautiful experience.
