Wow. I can’t believe the hardships your parents went through. So sorry to hear that. You know hardships is something we blacks globally go through. While I’m not saying we are better or more spiritual than anybody else, but we are very familiar with hardships. Maybe this why I guess we celebrate triumph the way that we do. The rural like makes us humble, it makes us realize that what we have is enough (if you lived in the cities as compared to the villages or as we Americans say the “country” lol). Nature, Animals, our community and our prayers. Thanks so much. I have decided to downgrade my Netflix and Sports Streaming accounts to support channels I can connect with. Thanks so much to educating us
My parents were caught up into the city life and they were already over 50 and still trying to suffer with all the bills and city life problems. The system at that time made them feel like that is the life to live and a better one but not. You are correct, homesteading is the best life for retirement. 🙏🏾❤️
Not only retirement but even when you are young it’s better to start so that you have a home to go back to whenever things are tough or you just need a time out from the city. Start building your retirement / dream when you young so you can enjoy it at anytime.
Thank you so much sis Velile for this video. We decided not to buy a house in the cities when we got married because we did not want the very things you talked about. We started looking for land in the rural areas in KZN and in 2021 we took that leap of faith, left city life behind and started building a life for ourselves in the rural area. We do not regret it for a second. Now I don't see myself ever living in the city again. Growing our own food has been the best experience for me. Thank you again for this video. God bless you and your family. ❤❤❤❤
This was so informative. I used to believe I'm a city girl forever but the rural life has been calling out to me. This here is the life I'm praying for a very big house with massive land for growing my own food, and livestock. Your husband is a very wise man. You're also a great wife for not being stubborn regarding abandoning the city life. You both agreed and your spirit guides worked together with both of you. I can't imagine working to pay a bond for the purposes of owning a house only to lose it. I'd be devastated. It doesn't even make sense that we live to pay for existing, house, water, electricity, education and more. It's crazy. This video was so informative, may it reach a bigger audience of young people. Thank you so much for this. ❤
I love your Channel. Your story is a human one. These stories epitomise the South African experience. As a coloured person I can tell you our parents experience the same burdens of city life that they are not equipped to navigate. They care for the children of those struggling to make a decent life as well as the kids of those who cannot handle the burdens of this life. I often dream of moving everyone to the country, to plant fruit trees and every known vegetable. I envy your rural lifestyle away from the harsh and expensive cities. Stay blessed.
Life in the rural areas is the best, fresh air, clean water, fresh food grown on your land, and plenty of greenery which is stress relieving, couldn't ask for more. 😅
The value of land is priceless well done back to your roots with sustainable living . SA is highly urbanised with some generations never having lived in a rural area , ,70 percent of zimbabweans live in rural areas we have tried to implement this in the last 20 years especially since land was repossessed from colonial past infact our citizens who are in the diaspora put their incomes to develope homes back home in the hope of returning in their mid 40s also creating rural economies to earn on this tribal 99 year lease land , many who never left too have such homes that generate food security and shelter as well as income many rent out their homes to younger people in urban areas as 100% of our homes are paid in full no debt no mortgage im so proud of you mazimba keep it up in 10 years the conversation will be so different. May more South Africans see the value in sustainable rural living, especially young people
Hi Velile lve been watching your channel and this particular video is a wake up call to me. l have areas in my house and my plan is to sell it to go build retirements home, lm still trying to sort out areas first, l work in a property company without benefits, lm single parent ,working alone, trying to do exactly what you advised us here, selling and build home in Eastern cape, life in Cape Town is very expensive , thank for this video , God bless you
So inspiring. I didn't want it to end. If resources permit, you can venture into agrotourism. Visitors can come to experience a rural with a touch of urban in your homestead. Make it a wedding venue and make money from your rural home. Rural living or countryside living is for the elite in Europe and most Western countries. You are living my dream life
Thank you. Others call it black tax but to us was to keep the legacy going and to show the oppressors that we as the new generation can do better. 🙏🏾❤️
The moment you both decided to do something for the parents was when all your blessings came your way. I also hope to have a home in the rural eastern cape, the land of my husband's ancestors. my family is from cape town township.
Thanks for sharing sisi. I grew up in a township outside Pinetown. Moved to the Cape but there is something about the land in KZN that is calling me back. I’m happy you and your family were able to return. Just a side note for others thinking about moving to a rural area -my friends moved to a tribal area. So even if not grown up there - the chief was open to welcoming them to the community.
Thank you for being transparent. This time for you is a resting and healing period. Time to move to the next level. Fruits of your labor are rewarded with that beautiful, peaceful home.
I am glad that you are sharing this sisi....I always used to wonder why my fellow colleagues in Joburg never invested in their rural parental homes ...because for us in Eswatini it was always the norm to upgrade the rural home. Some over the years ended up living in their rural homes and travelling to work daily. We are lucky enough to have what you call Swazi National Land ...and that meant essentially one requests a piece of land under a particular chief ...Asibuyeleni emakhaya. I am looking foward to doing a lot more at home as well with the income I am making here in Germany. There is no place like home. Europeans get shocked when they see what we have back in our rural homes....that lifestyle is only affordable if one if from a rich family.
Thank you for sharing yr story Sis... it's a reality for many families. I wonder if it's possible to get an overview of the level of safety in a homestead.. especially for widows or single parents whose children remain in the city and only come to visit. I love homesteading (my own dad was a farmer and I think i share that interest with him), but I have a concern on safety and security....any tips in yr future videos would help.♥️🙏🏾🇿🇦
Thank you. I had to share this video because a lot of people especially black South Africans who can relate. If you move to rural areas for retirement. You have to be in a village that is not close to the cities for security. These days a lot on inner city problems are spilling into the nearest villages because of unemployed youth. I would recommend areas in the outskirts with a small population and very community oriented. It is even better if you have closer relatives around. KZN has a lot of those. I have never had anyone breaking in or stealing from us since we have been living there. Try to have trusted and reliable helper and Gardner. All the best. 🙏🏾❤️
Thank you so much cc you inspired me to take a leap of faith and acquire land in the rural I am so happy it's like dreaming and I thank you for telling us that we do not know what is coming tomorrow ❤❤❤
Hey sis this video is an eye-opener, I watched most of the videos you are doing a great job of educating the most of people who are not familiar with rural areas life🇿🇦❤️🇬🇧
It was nice to hear about you and your husband’s life experiences! I’ve been through some of those circumstances. You both became a great blessing to your parents. Very rewarding! May God continue to bless you.
Thank you for all your work. I appreciate you. When I move to Umhlanga next year, I will contact you. I hope to acquire a rural homestead in the future.
I am so sorry for.the loss of the house..but I would like to thank you for sharing your story in terms of your rural land. I hope this will be a lesson to those who are calling for title deeds, ...Title deeds are a big disadvantage for black people in this country..
Wow Sis Velile this resonate with me, it is very true , I was once on the street as well because of these bonds, it actually devided my family and end up in devorce. Its a said story but I salort you for championing this project (Operation buyelekhaya) i call it.
Thank you Velile for sharing all this with us. I am a rural girl leaving with my husband in an upmarket surbarb. He likes the village life and we have just acquire land to build there for our retirement. Life is expensive in surbarb with rates & taxes. Also watching my mom who left the city to retire comfortably in villages. She is never short of money. Life there is less expensive.
So sorry sis Velile on what you went through... May God bless you. I am very much interested in relocating to rural area.I have already bought land there and built a house but I am not done yet, it at Ndwedwe Kzn. I would love to see your other homestead you have... I have only seen the one you built for your parents
Mina I totally understand. Our childhood home got repossessed when parents divorced, then mom passed on. luckily she had her own house that we went to live in. If it wasn't for that we could've been homeless. So my obsession with owning and not renting comes from that trauma😅. Next for me would be working towards having land emaKaya
We built in the early 2000 and prices have gone up but I know of some people who have recently built double storey homes for about R500k in rural areas. All the best. 🙏🏾❤️
I'm not sure about a huge house in a village. Selling it when the kids have their own lives can be a challenge. For your comfort , it's ok. But in the future, im not sure. Children usually don't opt for residing in villages. There are work commitments, too. But it's good to have a home.
Hi Valile so my Mom is Zulu and my Dad is Sotho but I want a house in the rural kwa Zulu, is it Possible for me to acquirer a house in Natal, My moms dad is from Mnambithi
mmhh undirhalisela ngotyuthu wokwenza umfino watsho wandikhumbuza kudala ndiwdibanise namazambane ndithi holsum and beef stock yheer ubumnandi obulapho..... inyani engaka siswam enkosi and kunjalo, let us open our eyes and stop being consumers of this system black child.
