So glad to hear this Antonio! You can explore these combinations for years - 3rds up and down, plus Kenny Barron voicing... as well as other voicings like rootless chord voicings. Do you have a request for a future lesson?

Can't avoid recollecting those sublime musical landscapes of Claude Debussy: «floating imobility» aroused by 3rds enchainements; a sound caleydoscope. These lesson are a priceless contribution to understand how jazz harmonies can be created. Can't thank you more. Congrats and keep up the good work.

I've been using the descending version for years but I embarrassingly never realized how beautiful it sounds ascending. The descending one is essentially a VIm9 IVmaj9 progression modulating in 4ths. So it gets a shade darker every two chords. The ascending version, is IVmaj9 VIm7 conversely moving in 5ths, getting a shade brighter at a time. I love these chord voicings, BTW.

Wonderful, beautifully played and thoroughly explained tutorial! I would like to ask for a tutorial on playing chromatic "fill-ins" instead of sitting on one chord for one or several measures (which would replace a "static" chord) and lend movement to a solo. Thank you very much Julian and Happy 2021!!

Julian, your videos are always clear but this one in particular is beautifully concise. Thank you for creating these highly informative tutorials. I'm a guitarist first, but my piano playing has improved immensely from watching your content. What I enjoy most about your tutorials is the musical application that I hear. Theory/Techniques are all well and good but applying them to making music has to be the ultimate goal. Clearly you subscribe to that view ;)
