I grew up seeing the old guys. Federer, Nadal, Tsonga, Monfils, Del Potro, Murray, Wawrinka, Djoker etc. Great era 😍. I started loving tennis bcoz of them.
I’ll never forget that match against Nadal in the semis of the 08 Australian open. Just some of the best tennis I’ve ever seen. Hats off to a fantastic career JWT!!!
Any other time he would of won a grand slam at that period, but it was ,a freak of nature , that 3 of the best of all time played at the same period with 61 grand slams on those 20 years
@@redd605 also dont forget that he had to play vs Murray and Warinka, who are also great players.Especially Murray : he belongs to all time greats like Becker,Edberg,Agassi
RUUD - a real sportsman - humility - perseverance - calmness. I really like his attitude towards sports. JWT - I think except for the end - this performance speaks for itself.
@@GeneralP123 Well, not an insult, but it’s a totally amateurish attitude to the sport. Do you think a professional box fighter will soon get your opponent tired or lost not KO out? Do you think Tsonga would have asked his opponent to give him light and easy balls? Is that how you wanted to end it? I think this is the dumbest idea. I think RUUD is a very strong player - and JWT still played a close and long match.
@@-beno- Tsonga would never ask his opponent to do something like that because he has pride, Ruud should've known what to do, would you beatdown a heavily injured man with full force?
Jo-Wilfried embodied tennis. His style, his never die attitude. We will truly miss you Jo. An amazing player and even a more amazing human being. We love you Jo!!!
It's safe to say that if it weren't for the big three, Jo-Willy would've raised a Slam trophy or two. Thanks for all that you did for the game. You will be missed
@@keithjacobson1640 and I remember Tsitsipas taking the first two sets off Djokovic in RG 2021 and he(Tsitsipas) still lost. There is absolutely no comparison between Tsonga and Dokovic, Federer, Nadal and Murray.
JWT, since my childhood after the first time I watched you play, when someone asked me who my favorite tennis player is, the answer was always you! You inspired me not just in tennis, but more importantly as a person; strong and dominant, yet kind, gentle, humble and fair, not to forget your rare charisma and humor! Thank you for everything, we’ll miss you and wish you the best in life.
Beautiful inside-out ‘Jo Wilfried Tsonga’. A real good model for the young generation. I always enjoy watching his tennis. Surely will miss him. Happy retirement, and All the best.
A champion of the most sunny, smiling, lovable and loved. Never disrespectful but always respected, never quarrelsome and always fair. Also for all these characteristics he was an athlete and a man of great charisma. A big hug from Italy.
That is the greatest retirement ceremony I have ever seen. All his former coaches, trainers, players, and family. Every person who supported his tennis life. What a remarkable ceremony the French put on. Incredibly classy for a wonderfully classy player. Brought tears to my eyes. A testimony to how much the French love this man. I wish Willie the best in his next life. He will always have a special place in the history of tennis.
Truly one of the most entertaining tennis players of an era full of talent. A grand career, he'll look back on his presence among the legends of the Big Three and know that he stood tall with them too.
Beautiful moment. Good to see Roland Garros finally rising to the occasion and celebrating tennis and its departing players. More of these moments, please.
Ho. What a fitting farewell to a gentleman champ. I have not seen any tennis players farewell. On this occasion I really cried. Very composed players salute to him.
Holy shit. The French really know how to put on an amazing show of appreciation!! That was fkn awesome!!! I stayed teary-eyed the whole time. Best of luck to Jo and his next journey in life!! 🙌🤴
This brought tears from me...I can relate to it eventhough from a different profession. I am a teacher. Remembering 2020 during my last day. I gave everything to my profesion just like Tsonga. Cried just like him. Also became a tennis coach at my school. Had a few success at district level. Miss my players. No regret. Given my all all those years. Happy retirement Tsonga.
I will miss his celebrations on court. He brought something special on court. He could've won a GS or two but he's had a successful career anyways. All the best to him and his family.
Such a legend. I will always have great memories of this player. He was Novak Djokovic big rival early on in their career, had that amazing AO 2008 run, played Novak in a great and competitive final. Jo was a player that on his best day could beat anybody. Super inspiring guy. Wish him all the best in his life journey. One of the best in the best tennis era in history. Goodbye Jo, tennis will miss you.
It’s heartbreaking to see Jo crying. A well earned standing ovation!👍❤️ I loved that had the French players, parents and wife with kids joining Jo in the end, and having his colleagues record messages of hope and appreciation. Never send a fellow player alone into the retirement.👏
I really like Ruud. My favourite player is Thiem and it’s hard to see him struggling. But I warm to Casper as he’s quite similar to Domi with his humbleness, however a beast on the court. Very classy player. Tsonga was also one my favourite players growing up. The power, charisma and way he conducts himself on and off the court should be seen as an example for every junior player. Merci Jo for all you’ve given to tennis.
I'm a Jo Wilfred's fan from Ecuador. I always liked the way he played, tireless, fighter. I'm sad for his retire, but I will always have him in my heart. Thanks for everything Tsonga and good luck.
@@harryp3804 I don't know if you have reading problems, maths problems, or learning difficulties, but nowhere did s/he say anything of the sort. Oh, and the big 3 very much include Murray in their group.
@@MikeAG333 I mean Murray really isn’t on the same level as them though, let’s be real lol. Definitely elite & better than most ever will be, but still a notch below the big 3
Jo, from my childhood since i watched tennis match, i do think you are the most handsome player on the court, and you've created such an iconic figure with your own dynamism, emotion, passion, humor and fighting. i still can't process this at this moment, your retirement means this generation has to say goodbye and our youth times have really come to an end, what a great loss, we will miss you..Love from China!!!!!!
One of the things he did, that NAILED him to my heart was carrying the bags for both himself and Richard Gasquet when Richard got injured. I still love them both and will very much miss seeing my "Hubba Hugga" on court.
What an amazing career you had, Jo. You provided us with so much showmanship, sportsmanship, charisma, while doing it with unbridled joy. You will sorely be missed indeed. Merci beaucoup!
As a Rafa fan, I will always remember when Jo literally destroyed him in the SF of Australia. He was simply a beast in that match. Nothing Rafa could do. Great career too!
if there were anyone (from the next gen)who deserves the privilege to put an end to Tsonga’s tennis journey, it would be Casper Rudd. He meant what he said and said what he meant…his words have weights and you just cannot help but listen to what he has to say!
One of my all-time tennis thrills was when I saw Tsonga play at.the U.S.OPEN. His grace and stunning strength and athletic skills were beyond my expectations. Happy life and thank you.
This is why Ruud (rude) will never live up to his name. Quickly becoming tennis' favourite player and one of the most respected athletes in the world.❤❤
Casper Ruud being part of Nole‘s 1000 MASTERS WIN and Jo‘s RETIREMENT 🤩 i hope Casper goes deep in this year‘s FRENCH OPEN. I always admire Jo‘s Game Style. We will miss you! You had a great career! ❤️
So sad but at the same time happy for him. One of the greatest tennis players, so humble and lovable by many. Goodluck on you journey to life you will be missed!
Casper Ruud, you are a humble and good gentleman. I wonder why they didn't allow other tennis players to come out, hug him and just be a part of the ceremony. It is still the very early rounds and most of his colleagues are still there.
What a wonderful and touching moment to see how RG organized to grace a great player who had so much left to the tennis world. Tsonga is one of the most recognisable players we have ever seen. His personality and fighting spirit are loved by fans around the world. He played great and always gave us good shows. Ruud, as a new generation player on the tour, showed his own class in paying respect to his opponent in this occasion. Both players are treasure to the tennis world. Thanks are given also to the extended standing ovation and enthusiasm of the crowd! 💪💕
Tsonga was my childhood favourite player. He really inspired me and showed me what was possible on a tennis court. Possibly the most robbed player along with Ferrer. Would have been world no.1 and multiple slam champion had it not been for the 4 greatest players of all time playing at the exact same time as him, and he still gave them a good run for their money and beat them quite a lot. At one time he was the 5th best player in the world and the only guys above him were the big 4 all in their primes! Best French player of all time imo. Merci Jo.
Congratulations to Jo-Wilfried for a fantastic career. He will go down as one of the elite players in this era and a classy person all around. Thanks Tsonga.
Met him few years ago in India, such a wonderful player to have a chat - Gave some tips to my aspiring tennis playing daughter. You will be sorely missed for the positivity you brought to the court.
We'll miss you on tour, Jo. Truly embodied the skill, spirit and flair that makes the great French players so much fun to watch. Best wishes for the future.
Jo-Wilfried is one of the most iconic characters of this sport, thank you soooo much for all your great moments. Love and miss you at the same time! You are an inspiration!
