Manipulation is a form of emotional abuse causing the person who has been harmed to question reality. In this talk we will look at how this works and ways to move on from being victims. Gaslighting is an aspect of this. A manipulative person claims the frame, controls the timeline, and distorts the truth, all in an effort to manipulate things for their own gain and in an attempt to save face.

This makes a lot of sense I used to be manipulated by my brother and sister, and used to just accept it, up until our parents passed some year back, we all feel out over money. It was then I saw them both for what they were.

I have been unlucky to have had to different relationships where I have felt a lot of the stuff that you have mentioned here, its not been down to my childhood either, just bad choices 😢.

You certainly know your stuff , I had no idea where the word Gaslighting came from, but did the research like you suggested and yes it is from a movie, in 1940, top marks 😉.

Thank you for sharing, I agree with you, that it can be extremely difficult to leave a marriage or long term relationship when this is taking place, especially when the are children present, but if we stay what are we teaching them, take care.
