I am not saying that NYC does not have a good bus system, or that it does not render a valuable service to its citizens. But, when you bark out, "We're Number One in the world", it behooves you to do a little research and fact checking before bragging.

Having state-driven could implement policies better for our environment. Not everything is about profits for the shareholders.

With a population of just 5.5 Million, tiny Singapore already operates 4500 buses.

I live in Singapore, and wanna know the best part? The government actually re-nationalized public transport assets because when the private corporations owned them they prioritized profits over providing a public good...Leading to lack of maintenance causing massive train breakdowns and a severe lack of buses. Sounds familiar?

Jeff, Two interesting articles with videos on America Magazine (a Jesuit publication, not a rah rah rag) on Catholicism in China, and a piece on green energy on MSNBC by Richard Engel on "china-leaving-us-behind-on-green-energy". True to my word, I am more concerned and focused from the American side, for the American side. I want to see my country head in the right direction. While we are "winning the war on Coal", we are losing several more important competitions on the word market, for the Earth's sake. Noteworthy in the Engel piece are the observations of a young man named CHRIS DEANGELIS, a Lehigh grad, now working for Alliance Development Group in Beijing. www.alliance-dg.com.
