I like both sides, Empire for having a logical reason why the glue chewers of Chaos can’t stomp them (Because Guns and Cannons are pretty nasty) and the Bretonnians because of my love for Magical Paladins bonzaiing into the Forces of Evil and coming out at top. Which is why I propose that the Order Factions stop bickering over who sucks their leader off more and instead, unite to create a Tide of Order to drive by the Forces of Evil.

The one point I wish Eli had brought up was flipping the Lady of the Lake narrative. She forsook her own elven kind and admitted the Bretonnians were better. An Elf goddess, which has to be the most egocentric creature in the setting, said the elves were inadequate because Bretonnia exists.

You guys actually make me interested in getting invested into fantasy. Please talk about it more. 🙏🏼 That being said there’s a depressing lack of Valerian and Custodes content in general. I’ve read the Watchers of the Throne books 4 times now and to say I stan Custodes would be an understatement. I think chapter 5 of Regents Shadow does a cool job showing them off and I never see or hear about it mentioned. Thank you guys so much for giving me hours and hours of enjoyment while I paint minis. :]

I love Pancreas, I really do, he's an amazing content creator, but Bretonnia is the best faction in all of Warhammer and you cannot change my mind! In the lore, the Emperor decided to be present when a single Bretonnian Duke decided to beef with the Empire, imagine the threat a united Bretonnia under King Leonceour would pose, good thing the Lance and Hammer are friends...right? ....right? You know in older lore Bretonnian regularly invaded the Empire and the Fay Enchantress knows all 8 lores of magic. Also the Lady's blessings regularly stops ranged attacks any way.

Septim Empire vs Sigmarite Empire (aka classic rome vs germanic)

I'm with Colin on this one. I will grant you that Sigmar's Empire of Man, glorious as it might be, is not the best nation militarily (though its infantry are just regular guys with spears, pistols and axes who take on Orcs and Beastmen on the daily) or technologically (though from a human standpoint this is almost true as they're definitely up to Cathay's level in the tech tree when it comes to guns, and higher with steam power) or even magically (though nowhere else in the Old World nor possibly beyond can claim to host one of the foremost centres of arcane learning, where the Winds are understood more as a science than as a mysterious, uncontrollable force). However, what DOES make the Empire a FAR greater nation than Gilles le Breton's derivative, irrelevant backwater of a kingdom, is that the Empire excels in its versatility, and adaptability to the circumstances of the world. As Colin himself put in one of his videos, the Empire isn't stuck in the medieval stasis that most fantasy nations are, something which makes Bretonnia even worse as there should be no excuse for them still having 15th century armies, machinery, infrastructure and feudalism in an age where their neighbours have access to guns, rockets, reliable and diverse spells, unique politics and just better standards of living. I would give my life for Sigmar before ever acknowledging the haughty Bretonnia as an equal to his Empire's faith, steel and gunpowder.

I don’t think pancreas knows that imperial wizards are canonically worse than bretonnian damsels. The prophetesses are even more scary. Also the blessing of the lady protects you from bullets. Grail knights have this automatically and other knights just have to pray for it and be found worthy. And LOL at a bunch of grubby halberdiers being able to hold down a group of grail knights. lorewise they’d get absolutely flattened. Grail knights, blood knights and the like are just in a different league than regular humans. Maybe chaos warriors with halberds could distract them, but not a bunch of normal dudes…

Collin says the battle is not won in any one engagement on the battlefield, but the same holds true for the brettonians. The Grail knights will hold up a key unit and the rest of the bretonnians will attack with Trebs, Archers, more knights and their flying cavalry which the Empire is pretty weak against. As well, they might not have the same number of lores, but it's hard to argue against a Comet of Cassendora.

Empire wizards can only master 1 lore of magic, while bretonnians can master 3. Add that to the lady’s blessings which can buff entire armies and the Empire is just flat out inferior to Bretonnia in the magic department.

Other then the Green Knight and Grail Knights the Empire holds every advantage.

Bretonnia? I mean I know GW is inspired by other people's work, but they didn't even change the work so the teacher couldn't catch on.

If I'm not mistaken, Bretonnian grail knights worship an Eldar female who uses magic to trick humans into thinking she's a goddess. The knights might be cool, but they're being tricked. I like the vampire grail dudes, though. They treat peasants not great. WHFB has influences from multiple cultures and time periods. The Bretonnians are from the Chivalreic period, the Empire is Prussian states in the 1600s to 1700s. Am i wrong? I've only really paid attention to druchii, skaven, undead, and the italians and pirates. Tilerea or whatever
