It's not all that uncommon for companies to try to get kids to know the company. When you need carpet, you're gonna call empire because you remember the jingle. Cigarette companies used to do that all the time, by using cartoons to promote cigarettes. Before the practice was banned. But companies still do that today. Such as Geico.
I love how you can tell, throughout the years, they tried changing the jingle to give it a new sound, but changed it right back because they realized they already had a prefect jingle.
My family actually called Empire Today to change the flooring in my living room, and kitchen to wood. Great quality, my wish was granted. best memory made.

we all think the jingle sounds incomplete without the "800", but since they went nearly 20 years without it, are there people out there who think the "800" sounds weird?
I think they had to when they started using a toll free number. Unlike the 312, because back then, phone systems allowed local calls without dialing the area code.
The 2008 ad was my introduction to it. It holds a special place in my heart, i was always waiting for this ad to come on while watching tv with my grandparents.
It has such a level of tender, sincere comfort and lovingness to it. It was there before us, and it will be there when we're gone. We will never grow to hate it. It is love. It is memory. It is security. It is quality. It is Empire.
Yeah believe it or not time is linear and there once was a time before now. I know it’s hard for people with such little life experience to comprehend that but it’s true.
I remember as a literal toddler just sitting in my living room watching the commercial channel on DirecTV and seeing all the Oxiclean, vaccum, mattress, and just general commercials of the time, but somehow this topped it all, and the theme still resonates in my head to this day. Number and all.
The animation started in '92 The toll-free line started in '95 The jingle as we know it today started with '03's fourth version (it's the third version, but weirdly cut in the beginning for some reason) I grew up with the '05 animation Everyone's knows it by the '08 animation Man! What a legacy this guy left, huh?
The “(312)” Variant Was Used Until Sometime In Mid Or Late 1994, After That, A Rare “1-800” Variant Was Demonstrated Until 1995 When It Was Shorten To Simply (800).
"I grew up with the 05 animation"/"Everyone knows it by the 08 animation" 90s Version/3rd and 4th Revision of '03 is the most iconic to us old farts (milennials/early zoomers) and our parents' (Boomers/Gen X).

What's crazy is that these advertisements are mainly targeted at adults so they can ring up the company, but the jingle resonated so well with the younger generations.

Im about to turn 16 and this is the one. 3:20 is the one that is burned into my mind. To this day any time I hear that jingle I get a vivid memory of me at 5 years old sneaking into the living room at 2 AM, getting my sippy cup full of chocolate milk I hid in the fridge from the day before, fiddling with the remote for a solid 15 minutes to try and make the tv turn on, to only get the tv to turn on and have the thing at max volume. I fumbled but managed to get it at the perfect volume and just watched tv for hours. Thanks for posting this. Brings back a good memory.

I was just sitting down thinking about my childhood and then I remembered this commercial I would see so often as a kid on television so I decided to come and visit because I actually missed it.

I have a story about a possible lost empire ad. In probably around 2012 I was in a hotel and I remember seeing one of these ads and when it got to the jingle there was an extra character it was a lady with a purple shirt and blonde long hair and she was standing by the window and she was looking around at the progress the people were making. The only reason I remember the ad still is because right after it said the “today” part some child from the hallway screamed extremely loud and it scared me I remember not being able to tell if it was from the ad or not but lookin back it probably wasn’t but I have never found the variation of the ad with the lady in it ever sense (the ad was the 2008 version just with the lady)

I was born and raised in Fairfield County, CT, in 1970, lived here all my life, spent three years away at UCONN to finish my degree, moved back to Fairfield County... And became aware of Empire and their commercials only AFTER about 2002ish?
They were based in Northlake, IL (Just west of Chicago) back when they were founded in the late 50s/early 60s. They remained local to that area for some time, probably until 2002, when most of us began becoming familiar with their jingle.
They have a distinctly NY tone, not just the jingle, but the whole commercial. I was reallly 'out of it' from birth until the mid-2000s(traumatic upbringing I guess, second hand smoke, ducking flying ashtrays, learning this language my parents yelled to each other). I was pretty much unaware of anything until much later.
