For Ambient Delay, I love to run Double Reserve with different time each side (L/R), Double Reverse Dual Pitch with different time and picth for each side (L/R), Deluxe Memory Boy with lots of modulation (Single), Granular (Single), and more. I love the overall sound of EchoSystem and the flexibility to combine modes.
Really good demo, that thing is loaded. My main delay pedals are a Volante, ECCOS and and Adineko by CB. I just scored an Echolution 3. The cool stuff is an addictive rabbit hole.
Kinda amazing that I've had my EchoSystem for almost 3 years now I think and you've shown me something new. I hadn't really taken a dive into that Ambient mode, even though I'm a big Post Rock and Shoegaze fan... and most of my patches I've created that use two delays sound like that anyway... lol. As always GREAT content from you John. Thanks much!
@@johnnathancordy Yup. I'll be messing with that more tonight. I've been getting a good smeared reverb with a reverse reverb on the Empress Reverb that I have running after the Echosystem. And then also sometimes using the Reverse from a Keeley Loomer earlier in the chain, which also gives me that envelope controlled pitch vibrato.
I'd be really interested in a comparison on these delays: LVX-Timeline-Echosystem-( maybe the delays in the Helix units). You tried all of them out right?
Great review!! Went back and forth between Echosystem and LVX. Finally settled and ordered a LVX. The Echosystem sounds great and the engine options made it a very hard decision. In the end, I felt the LVX would allow for more learning/experimenting with sound design. I am willing to spend the extra time sculpting the sound I want that is in my head. I also like screens so that was a big + for me. Both seem like amazing options and you can't go wrong with either imho.
Lovely demo. Loads of good sounds and having two engines makes it really quite versatile. Unfortunately the missing "kill dry" feature means it's difficult to use in a parallel fx loop. When I last contacted Empress about this they didn't see this a priority update. I'd be interested to know if they have implemented "kill dry" on the unit you have.
@@JLP-333 That doesn't solve the problem. When pedal bypassed the dry sound of the guitar is there. This is a problem when using in a parallel fx send return on your amp or mixing desk.
Hi john, I have a video recommendation for you. Joseph Anidjar just posted a 25 minute long beautiful video on his rig, that I think you'd really enjoy watching. Cheers and have a great day man!
Get that gun out of here. I think for me I'm super used to the idea of interacting with a screen to tell me what's going on? That's why I really dug the idea of Meris coming up with a new UI. Umm but I also think the EchoSystem gives more immediate results? Really tough to pick between the two to be honest as they both do radical things but in a different way?
@@johnnathancordy I need this gun for protection! (tm) (c) I've never had the Echo systems, but just got LVX last week (based on your video actually). It is a bit a learning curve to get up to speed with it, but it does do some very unique stuff.
