A suburban Toronto walk through the city of Mississauga. I walk along a couple of stroads and through a residential area before entering what used to be Sheridan Mall.

Thanks for the memories! I used to live just south of Sherwood Mall (or whatever it was called back then), the apartment closest to Erin Mills & the QEW. I moved away in October 1978, about the time you were born. I worked north on Erin Mills & the 401. Control Data Canada Ltd, no longer there. Buy yourself a burger & good IPA.

I lived in this area as a child and teen (54 now). Most of the area where you start the stream was still forest, the police station was a corn field and the seniors residence at the corner of Fifth Line was a small barn and paddock with a couple of horses

Hey, Johnny. Holy cow! What a dead mall! I remember when that mall used to be a very busy place. From what I found on a Google search, The Sherwood Village project will retain the shopping mall, with which Dunpar intends to attract top-tier retailers, and the Metro grocery store as an anchor tenant, while introducing a residential component. (Oct 18, 2021). Since this was almost 3 years ago from what that mall looks like now. I think that Dunpar has either failed or is delayed at their renovations. I used to live in Sheridan Homelands when I was in high school during the early '90s. The neighbourhood was built around the car. My mother would give me a loonie to buy bread, and it would take me 20 minutes to walk to the closet corner store.

At 23:45 behind the red wall used to be a Target, which lasted about a week. That whole end of the mall was that anchor store, which is now just a shell. And yes, it was where Zellers was. I think persuading a major retailer to occupy that shell is why the rest of the mall is the way it is.

My bestie lives behind the cop shop at Dundas & Erin Mills, so I know the area. Agree with the Stroads assessment - I always feel alien/persona non grata when visiting. If you're on 2 feet instead of 4 wheels, you don't fit in.

The activity there is definitely going to lead to closing down that mall. Check out Dixie mall in that area.

This mall is clinging on to its remaining life. When it has too many eyeglass shops, health care clinics, and mobile phone carriers, you know it's in need of serious help

Johnny, Mississauga resident here, please do a walk along Queen Street In Streetsville. We don’t have many walkable neighbourhoods to rival Toronto but that is easily the best!!!

Erin mills parkway has been super wide since as long as I remember. Grew up in the area since early childhood and it’s built up now with overcrowding and the good shops closed down many years ago. Mississauga has a lot of malls scattered throughout the city. Nowadays I’d rather visit occasionally than live in the area. Enjoy dude 😊

The property is being redeveloped for a condo where the lansing was & another was planned for the back lot by the bus station. The used book drop off is down by the offices with the prop house

Thanks Johnny for this video. I was there 10+ years ago, and I remember it was also pretty dead then. I think this is the first time I have seen a mall open to the public when much of the mall is being renovated.

Mississauga use to be so crappy and dreary but as soon as they built that second bus platform off of square one then it got soooooo much better. Mississauga transit was HARD TIMES 😥 The struggle was real

This mall was rockin in the 80s with Zellers. I am so surpried no one mentioned the mountian blocks in the middle of the mall which children can climb! Then one day a child fell of broke his leg and no more mountain

There was a failed Target store that left a huge space when it left because it was so big it couldn't be filled.

Same thing with the old Eaton's/RSA space at the opposite end of the mall

The store that was K-Mart then Zeller's became most recently a Target store before they pulled out of Canada. As you can see, the trademark red shell of the former Target is still there, and no one has occupied the store since that time in 2015 or so. Without anyone to fill that anchor, they are pretty much sunk. Wal-Mart probably won't go there, as they are already doing pretty good business in the South Common Mall, just north of there, where there is a major bus depot for the west end, served by tons of bus routes, including Oakville. Also, isn't part of Sherwood Mall a branch of Sheridan College?

Dunpar Homes are the owners with major plans for redevelopment. This will also include a residential component and their attempt to attract top tier retail stores with Metro Supermarket as an anchor store. There is also a plan for a high rise condominium on site according to some research.

Johnny, you could have gone the next block over to the Van Mills Centre for a bunch of other food options or just crossed Erin Mills Pkwy from there to Leanne Blvd for even more options, including the Swiss Chalet that's still there.

My family worked too hard in Mississauga..When they had staff meetings at.missisauga convention center 😩 When I had to fill in for other ladies at the government centers around Erin mills? 😩 I suffered it's not funny. I worked too hard all my life 😥 I did grave yard shifts at FedEx waiting for the planes at 2 am to bring in parcels That's enough😩 I worked too hard😩 Jesus take the wheel for real. Mississauga is HARD WORK!
