once suspicion of stoke, best bet is to get a quick set of vitals.. basic history from a close family member or friend (or their phone number to call en route/at hospital.. then LOAD AND GO, regardless of distance to hospital. (w/ IV & 02)
I’m a paramedic in Brevard County Florida I remember responding to a call about a patient who was having a stroke the patient passed away en route to the hospital I was sad about that call but as a paramedic I can’t let my emotions interfere with my Job
That is pretty sad, but you're right sir, you have to keep your focus on the patient at that time and put your feelings aside at that moment and just go over them later.

What about the rest of the FAST exam? I know that they are paramedics, but shouldn't they have said "Possible CVA" or "Cincinnati Scale Positive"? Also, I know for EMTs you would either say one of those two things and that you can't diagnose a stroke, I don't know if its the same for a paramedics.
1- While disjointed, the FAST was completed. 2 - I'm not sure what state you are in, but we teach our EMT students to form a field diagnosis on all patients. No, its not an official diagnosis, but how else do you decide what your treatment plan is. 3 - This video is about a program called "Code Stroke" where any patient with signs of stroke is called in to the hospital as a Code Stroke, just like EMTs would call in a Trauma or Paramedics would call in a STEMI. Any level provider in this system (or one using this protocol) would use this terminology.
