In this video, we look at the replacement procedure of a diesel fuel filter element, using Blue Print part ADN12353. This filter element is the service part used in a very popular fuel filter assembly, which is fitted to many vehicles. These include the featured vehicle in this video, a Dacia Duster 1.5 DCi, plus many other Fiat, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Renault and Vauxhall/Opel models.
The Blue Print filter element is of a different design to the original, which has no effect on the part’s technical function or operation.

After installing the new filter you just turn the key and the filter fills with diesel automatically ? Or you must fill the filter before putting it back or pump it with the pump hose above??.

Thank you for watching our video. As explained in the video, after the fuel filter element has been replaced, switch on the ignition, listen for the electric low-pressure fuel pump to run for a few seconds, this will fill the filter with fuel, before starting the engine.

My Duster just wouldnt start after I changed the fuel filter even with the electric pump running so I primed the filter with the priming bulb which can be found behind the drivers side headlamp (right hand side) and it started first time.

Thanks for this. I have a 2013 Dci model. Do I need to drain the fuel tank or close a valve before following these steps? Thanks!

What is the electric connection for on the top of the filter ? I’m having issues at the moment with same engine on same vehicle it’s throwing a fault code up P1453 apparently quite a famous one and describes cause as fuel tank pressure relief valve??? But also with same code saying it’s boost pressure sensor. However each time it throws the code it’s goes into limp mode no turbo no gear change lights when cleared it runs great until you accelerate hard then same code again but I noticed that the electric connection on top of filter has signs of melting as in heat which isn’t good but I wanted to know if it’s safe to drive to my nearest auto electrician?

Thank you for watching our video. The electrical connection on top of the filter featured in this video is a water sensor.

Great video! Yes the filter in the same location for the petrol version as demonstrated in the diesel version on the video?

Thank you for watching our video. The petrol version has an integral filter included in the in-tank fuel pump. Therefore it is not a regular service item.
