Fantastic filly - after scintillating success in the Investec Oaks at Epsom, Enable marks herself out as the outstanding filly of her generation with a sparkling follow-up success in the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh for trainer John Gosden under jockey Frankie Dettori.
The hot favourite for this Group 1 contest, the result didn't look in too much doubt as she hit the front turning into the straight and shot clear to power to victory by over five lengths.
The first dual Oaks winner since Snow Fairy in 2010, Enable now has many options open for the rest of the campaign, including the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot, the Darley Yorkshire Oaks and potentially a step back in trip to tackle the Juddmonte International at York, the race backed by the filly's owners.
The big likely target? Tackling the colts in Europe's premier contest, the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October...

You are looking at today's King George winner ladies & gentleman. If run to form I don't see how any horse in the land can give Enable, rated 120 a stone in weight. She can put the older generation to the sword today and hopefully stay sound for the Arc..

Best 3yo performances I've seen this season; Winter in both the English and Irish Guineas, Enable in both the Englidh & Irish Oaks.

Doubt it will happen, Enable got beaten by Shutter Speed over 1m2, but has probably improved since

Enable has improved rapidly since her last run at 1m 2f the only thing that would worry me is that she seems to take a while to get into top gear but to be honest I don't even think we've seen her hit top gear yet

She is outstanding, would take a short price for the Arc she guaranteed to get the trip and with a good draw the fillies allowance will take a world of beating - top of the tree in the 3 year-old generation.

She's given too much already to win the Arc .... need a fresh horse. They should have run her in the Irish Derby, there hasn't been a female winner of that since Balanchine.

I like you AA. You write the facts that so many others always know after the race. The fillies are better treated than in my youth, when they only got three pounds. Not that an extra two pounds would have stopped Enable.

trying to think who enable puts me in mind of, wrong colour but she puts me in mind of pebbles, who had an astonishing turn of speed. just noticed what a long stride enable has.

Reminds me a little of another Gosden filly from just a few seasons ago, Taghrooda. Although at this point in her career I'm not sure I'd say Enable is quite as talented as Taghrooda was, IMO. Taghrooda was also a big, powerful, long striding filly as well, and Gosden went to the King George with her, and with a great deal of confidence I might add.

You are right. Enable is possible to be the next Oaks winner trained by Gosden to go for the King George after the brilliant Taghrooda. Besides, the way Enable ran in the double Oaks does remind me another brilliant filly The Fugue. Staying at the 2rd - 4th place, then accelerate greatly to finish the race. That's the way The Fugue beated the BC Turf winner Magician and the back-to-back Arc winner Treve in the Prince of Wale stakes.

barbara dyson treve was nowhere near right when she got beat off the fugue. she shouldnt be put in the same sentence as treve. granted enable looks good but will she win 2 arcs? out of the question atm

dave hostricker how do you know that treve wasn't right. Did you ever see petite etoil race or park top or dahlia or pebbles for that matter yes treve was good but no body knows how good enable will be so don't say that enable isn't already a good horse. If you watch her action she races like frankel. and I never even mention treve.

Sorry it is my fault to mention Treve while mentioning The Fugue under the comment of Enable. I have never tried to compare Enable with Treve. I just want to praise the work of John Gosden on training filly, like Taghrooda and The Fugue before. Besides, I totally agree with your point about Enable's action. At the last furlong, she races really like Frankel. And they have the same racing colour.

🤔. Frankie is a brilliant jockey! He rides the best horses because the best racing stables, who have the best horses want him to ride for them!
