@@rajahadid9858 Both Encanto and Turning Red were stories of generational trauma and high expectations putting stress on one's family, but I liked Turning Red better because through it all I could still tell Ming loved Mei despite the stress she caused, but Encanto it didn't feel like Alma cared about the family beyond their role in securing their place in leading the community.
Keep in mind that the trauma she inflicted on Bruno was so bad that he lived in the walls, with rats, for YEARS because he was TERRIFIED she would treat his niece like him. He literally disappeared in hopes of sparing her the same trauma.
But Dolores was the true villian. Think about it, she said she knew he was there the whole time and never said anything. Plus if she could hear Luisas eye twitch she had to have heard the cracks and didn't stand up for Mirabel.
I'm glad someone agrees with me. It's sad but I still don't have the courage to watch Encanto because I grew up in an abusive home with someone who looked and acted like Abuela. Just the scenes I've glimpsed at have given me panic attacks and just brought me back; I just hope that one day I'll be strong enough to watch it without fear.
She’s not a villain! She wanted to protect so much that the fear of losing everything caused her to lost sight of important things! She needed therapy!
I think "antagonist" is better than villain. Villains revel in their destruction, and we love them for it. But you make an adorable older lady regardless. 😂😂😂
*Antagonist* for sure, but not a *villain.* I really hope we get another true villain soon. Even if it’s somebody we’ve already seen. That’d still be better than these fake “villains” they’ve been pushing.
I understand that she wasn't the nicest but she basicaly has a cut and paste personality from my nonna. (We even have an uncle I didn't know about until I was 12) so I feel for her
