_"We didn't mean to offend anyone"_ yet you still managed to upload the video w/o revising the script. Did no one really think "hmm, maybe we shouldn't use this word." Do you write now, think later? Jesxs Xrist.
Truly puts into perspective how much work goes into animated films, Encanto is seriously a masterpiece and its creative team deserves all the recognition!
3:19 that hip movement is one of the most enchanting dance moves ever, in my opinion, and I'm so glad they were able to catch that in the animation so well.
No one has mentioned that not only are Deloris's ears round and prominent, so are her eyes. She has gossupy moments, so she not only hears everything, she sees all.
Every time I hear people calling latino people latinx I lose a few years of my lifetime. I dread the day that someone refers to me as latinx directly. Either say latino that includes everybody (regardless of gender) anyway or latine which is OUR gender-neutral version of the word. This attempt of being inclusive is so backwards to me, foreigners try to include us in something using our language while completely ignoring our input about it and language structure.
Exactly I don’t know how I will react when someone inevitably does. All I know is that it won’t be positive. It’s all about inclusivity and forcing other cultures to bend to your norms.
Same. I'm not even Latino but I can't stand hearing "latinex". (My autocorect waned to spell it laziness 🤣) I'm just learning Spanish from British English. I just can't stand American "English". 🤣
Encanto is a masterpiece when it comes to animating dance, I just love the choreography of the film and also some facial expressions and reactions are priceless
This movie was delightful, from start to finish, and I loved how how there was no twist villain, with the family past being the primary source of conflict.
@@nanitaheart it’s supposed to be the “gender inclusive” version of Latino or Latina, but it’s entirely unnecessary and kinda offensive because Latino is already the inclusive version. People wanted to change it because Latino is the masculine version if you’re referring to one person, so it’s like changing “humanity” or “huwomanity” to “huanity” or something to attempt to remove the “masculine” part of the word. Dunno if you’re familiar with the way the language is structured to begin with, but there’s a feminine or masculine version of nouns, usually just swapping o for a or vise versa, and most words are either feminine or masculine, which is apparently problematic for people.
It’s offensive, because they put all of the south american countries in one bag assuming we all have the same culture. I’m from Chile, and even though I love Colombia we literally do not share more than one or two cultural aspects and we mostly can’t relate to what’s known as “latino”. They think we’re all the same lol
The only thing that bugged me is "Latinx." The speaker sounds Canadian. Why would you expect an Anglo-Canadian to pronounce Spanish names perfectly?? Btw most people mispronounce Russian names technically. "Boris" should be "Bah-rees" and "Vladimir" should be "Vla-Dee-meer."
undermines the language? im sorry I can say I don't like Latinx, but I understand where it came from. but to use that as the example as if Spanish wasn't also a colonizing language that has been changed all throughout Latin America is HILARIOUS. and who said we would rather be called hispanic ?!
"No you see, calling someone Latino or Latina is 'gender stereotyping', so it needs to be neutral! No I don't care if that's not how your language works, it offends me!" -White people who's Spanish only comes from eating out at Chipotle or TexMex
@@morenol1990 I know I said this like 100 times, but it's annoying how the only people pushing this are these non-Hispanic Americans who only get their Spanish from Taco Bell or Chipotle...
If you dont happen to see the comment I left on their video... LatinX is an ignorant dumbass effing word. I cannot stand being referred to as such. I'm from Uruguay btw.
@@joigagbe You are from Chile but you don't understand how much of a bastardization of both Spanish and Portuguese languages it is? Do you know anything about linguistics?
I stopped paying attention when. I heard "Latin X". It is not a word. It's not gonna happen. Stop using it, it is offensive to our language and culture. We don't need Americans to tell us our language is oppressive. If you want to make up new words for your own language, go for it.
They are and it’s equally frustrating. 😭 trying to make “non-binary pronouns” like “ze/zer” and other ridiculous sounds become a thing. Language doesn’t work that way!!! I’m so sorry idiotic people are pushing the cringe worthy “Latinx” down your throats.
I’ll only correct what you said about Americans. Don’t generalize please because that ideology is WILDLY unpopular here. Other than that, I’m in full support of your message.
As a Cuban, I feel that the only people who call Hispanics "LatinX" are white people who don't understand Spanish as a language. They hear that there's "feminine" and "masculine" words and they freak out without realizing that that's just how the language is. German has feminine, masculine, and neutral words, yet you don't hear these people demanding Germans be called "GerX"
Everything is great except for the fact that you keep calling us LatinX. Please understand this, we don’t like that term in Latin America, nor do we respond to it. I’m almost certain that most US citizens of Latin American origin reject the term as well.
@@ejb2987 I am from Europe - I don't really understand what it this fuss about LatinX - who came up with this and why? When did Latino/Latina become outdated? What, should I be calling myself SlaviX now?
@@konradterlikowski8788 basically some busy body who doesn’t understand the language or the culture decided that it was sexist to call people Latino. Since it’s male so ‘obviously’ has to be bad and how dare you. So they came up with an idiotic term LatinX. In their virtue signaling they completely ignore the fact that they are suppressing a culture and forcing their beliefs and virtues onto everyone! For a group that supposedly likes to ‘defend’ people’s ability to be themselves they sure like to force people to conform to their own.
They think it’s that using gendered words like latino are offensive to trans and non-binary people. Unfortunate for them all of Spanish is gendered and extremely gender binary.
Hey, grew to live in fear of Bruno stuttering or stumbling I can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling I associate him with the sound of falling sand, ch-ch-ch It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling Always left Abuela and the family fumbling Grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand Do you understand?

As a Disney movie diehard, this is BY FAR my favorite animated Disney movie. It really is a masterpiece. And to now learn it was all done remotely?? AMAZING!
I appreciate the time and effort for the team who made Encanto. I've noticed how much animated filmmakers are helping present a more accurate and authentic animation and storytelling so that they can help support the people they are wanting to have represented and to reach audiences.
Literally scrolled the comments just to see if anyone else said the same thing! Also the way she said Madrigal. I’d get someone not rolling their Rs, not everyone can. Even a person with the most hard southern accent can say the “ah” sound for the letter A. 🤦♀️
Wow.This is outstanding. I wonder if people danced around a table and set it with real plates but plastic cup and things??And had the singing cast watch them.:-)It would have been so much cooler if they did.Fantastic.
I love encanto but had to give this video a thumbs down cause of that " Latin X" ish. We are latinos and proud of it!!!!!! Stop pushing y'all ideology on our culture!!!!
I think the problem is too many young AMERICAN born and raised Latinos are all into that "woke culture" but they dont realise how actual Latinos from Latin-America are not.
As a Salvadoran Brazilian I am beyond happy to see characters I can more relate to in popular animation. I started doing 3D 2 years ago and it makes me excited to see movies like Encanto being produced today
When I heard Latin x I was so confused and thought the word sounded like a test subject "subject marine x", which does not sound appreciative at all. They did apologise for using the term though so I'm not pressed.
Un saludo para todos desde la bella Colombia un país con las puertas abiertas a todos los turistas, sus paisajes, cultura, comida es muy variada, los encantarán.
Mira bel in high heels👠 would definitely effect her movement it’s very hard to even walk in high heels so choosing those shoes we’re a much better choice 😂 😂 😂
When I saw the part of the movie about "Bruno no, no", I notice something weird about the movement of their feet: too bouncy. I am not surprised now as the dancers was wearing sneakers! For rehearsal that fine but for the final movie, they should have worn espadrilles. Walt Disney would have never passed this detail which not a tiny detail considering shoes is part of dancing, isn't it?
Love the costume design but want to point out that, that kind of outfits were used in the 30's or 40's-ish in Colombia, no one dresses like that now, except for dance or traditional performances :) Also, that kind of house can be found only in rural areas, I recommend visiting Salamina in the state of Caldas- Colombia or Villa de Leyva in the state of Boyacá- Colombia if you want to see that kind of architecture, otherwise the cities are just cement and concrete :)
I think that's the point! Remember they were cut off from the world 50 years ago in the movie. They've been living separately from the modern world Because of the magic of the 'encanto'. I'm pretty sure that's why everything is outdated :)
I am assuming the narrator watched the movie right? or like any of the promotional videos of behind the scenes clips. SO HOW DO THEY STILL NOT KNOW HOW TO PRONOUNCE MADRIGAL
Hi. I'm latina and never asked to be called latinx. It absolutely wipes the latin american out of the word. It would be much better if instead of apologizing in the pinned comment, just edit it out. You say you're sorry, but im still hearing the word multiple times on this video, and presumably, many other people will if this video stays up as it is. We don't identify as this (for the most part, I don't talk for very latino/a out there), white americans do. I'm sorry for the ranty comment, I usually don't get heated or argumentative, but this is an issue that needs to be addressed.
