Any inexpensive wax, like the soy you suggest, or perhaps paraffin wax for instance, can be used heated, to puddle the brush in, and then use tissue to wipe the brush head clean - repeat until it is done to your satisfaction. Any wax still in the fibers will set hard on cooling, but will revert to a liquid when next heated. To remove wax totally you can use a solvent if you wish - but these are highly flammable so be careful.
