Thank you very much 🙏 The harp is tuned to the key of G major for this one ☺️ It is not complete improvisation in a sense. I create motifs, melodies or musical ideas in personal improvisation off camera. Then while recording I intuitively weave various ideas together. I never know how the performance will go or what is coming next. I think of it as a very loose frame work to play around with. So it is improvisation, with a little forethought✨ I hope this helps 🙏

Thank you for listening 🙏 It’s a pleasure to inspire you in your playing ☺️ I have been involved with music my whole life. When I came to the harp I’d spent many years studying and improvising with other instruments, and applied the various lesson to this new format. This undeniably helped the learn process. It all depends on your goal of practice, I am not aiming to be a master of technique and play complex repertoire. As long as I’m able to express through sound, that’s all that personally matters. Even playing pieces written by others isn’t of particular interest. I aim to develop my playing as a reflection of inner expression, and my technique and playing style be a mirror of that. It’s a very unserious approach, however, there’s great attention to making sure the way I play is healthy for the body, shoulders, arms and tendons etc. Speaking of mirrors, that is one of the best tools for teaching yourself. If it looks uncomfortable, it probably is. I also use these videos as observational teaching tools. In videos from 6 months ago, the wrists were significantly weaker: having noticed this, there was a drive to strengthen them. Relaxed playing posture is a priority at the moment. Personally, observations of what you are doing is key to self teaching, as well as observing what professionals are doing. There’s a careful attention required and also a gentleness not to push too hard - implementing the best elements of a teacher within yourself. I hope this helps along your harp journey 🙏

The sound of harp is really relaxing and makes me stress free so I'm planning to learn and enjoy the harp as long as I can. I just got into my 40's so unfortunately it's late to be a professional harpist but it's okay. I'm also trying to learn basic musical theories and chords hoping someday I could improvise like you. 🙂
