Thanks Kevin. I understand if the FIB doesn't match it's said to be a 'glean' instance and then punted to the RP. I presume running a debug such as 'debug IP packet' and then type "sh proc cpu" would produce higher CPU cycle metrics for the 'IP Input' process & interrupt value.

I was wondering about CEF dropping the 224.x route/destinations. It would seem that a multicast, like a live stream, would be the ideal situation for forwarding a series of IP flows using the same path.

Greetings Sir. I thank you for all the helpful tutorials. I actually tried the lab on GNs3 and Sandbox CML. We can either turn off cef globally or on any particular interface with the no ip route-cache cef command. But the debug output shows the packet is forwarded via FIB. I'm a bit confused. Grateful if you can help me out. I posted on all forums but to no avail.

That's aweseom, 'I'm telnetted in here'. REALLY??!! You are admitting to not using security right in your demonstration. Don't get me wrong, everyone has an excuse and I'm not saying your wrong but until starts caring security by default, out of the box, as the only way to do it, security will continue to be a systemic failure. Right here you are demonstrating why security is fundamnetally a failure in the entire computer industry, because it's too much work to do it right. That is what needs to change.
