Morton! Nice video, you are correct, I once set up my 40m EFHW in this fashion doing a POTA and almost ALL my contacts were straight norths as that was the direction of the antenna, I have the map screenshot somewhere , was just about a straight line.

This antenna is definitely on the to-do list! I'll be sure to point it your way too.

When I model this in MMANA, I get huge lobes that go skyward. If I then feed this at one of the top corners, I get a nice solid low angle pattern (that is inline, not broadside) to the poles. This also puts the feedpoint at 50 ohms. This may be an issue with the modeling software. The feedpoint impedance shoud not be an issue as we can always tune that out with the proper UNUN or L-match. The question becomes then, WHERE does the RF go, and what is the db gain. This would make for some future videos where the two feedpoints are measured and compared (hopefully on the same day with same band conditions). 73 😎

I built one for 2M and it worked well, though I just did a hasty job and it did not hold up. It worked fine, I did corner feed it as is traditional. Usually the end fed version has radials.
