Chasing Goku gave his life so much more purpose. To better himself not just as a fighter but a person emotionally and spiritually. He probably can’t fathom what he is going to do without his measuring stick, best friend, and brother gone. One of the few times Vegeta cut the tough guy smartass act and showed his genuine love for goku

DBGT was designed as a tribute and continuation of stories based on Canonical events in DB and DBZ. Akira Toriyama didn't write the stories, but he did have involvement in them.
He didn't abandon them he left with Sheron to pay the debt of sins they caused using the dragon balls. All of the 7 evil dragons were derived from a wish from the crew.
Its always hard to fully invest in a scene like this in DB just because EVERYONE who dies or leaves returns like 2 episodes later. If GT continued he woulda been back. But since it isnt this scene hits hard

actually he did drink the ultra divine water to fight king piccolo (the one thats not cat pee) you could argue he needed be strong to down that shit but it was still the only instance where he got the dragon ball equivelant of an illicit substance

Crazy to think in the manga goku is actually a dead spirit in this scene And that omega shenron did kill goku but shenron brought back goku momentarily That’s why only Goku’s clothes are left behind when he leaves And that thanks to shenron (the dragon) goku’s spirit lives on

I got hip to this in the late 90s on Toonami. This brought a tear to this grown man eyes. The way Vegita asked if he was gonna train. The way Bulma said it's been a lot of years. And Goku...there in your hands, now...😢😢

Goku did love his family. Piccolo was there even more than Goku, at least for Gohan. Much of that was because Goku was dead or training. This doesn't mean that he didn't love them though and there is scenes where he proved this.

Goku spent more time with Gohan than piccle man, Also I think he was dead here, And even if he didn't have to leave, Which idk about that, He would go. but he loves his children, His saiyan blood makes him that way, Toriyama wanted to make him selfish and he kinda couldn't.
Seeing the end of gt made me cry for vegeta. Goku spared his life because he didn’t want to kill anyone. He wanted one of his kind to survive and grow with him as a person. Basically acted as a guide so vegeta could learn to feel humility, love, honor, and most importantly, companionship and respect. These were the lessons Goku and a lot of other characters have taught us. It’s why I feel deeply for him.
The fact that when you think the old goku when he unlocked ssj1 and he was so happy and now he unlocked ssjb and final ultra instinct its sad to think hes going after all that years😢

This scene hit so hard as a kid i remember growing up to gt. I watched every episode from the orriginal to the ending of gt at least 3 times. Gt ive probably seen 10
@EJ Thehooper He didnt die idk why people think this. He was gathering Universal energy while he was getting hit by Omega's negative karma bomb and that protected him. Then you see him scene for scene rise up with the Universal Spirit Bomb and take out Omega Shenron. He literally approaches pan and vegeta after and says goodbye, then tells Shenron to take him to say goodbye to everyone else. His last wish was to revive everyone on earth including krillin. Even the narrator confirms hes not dead.
@SK Media Its not confirmed but he definitely went somewhere to train with Shenron. Vegeta even said "youre going off to train alone?!" And Goku just told him "Shhh!!". There's also a fanmade manga called Dragonball AF and it showed Goku attaining SSJ5 after training in the realm of dragons. Definitely not to be used as "evidence" but from what I know, Toyotaro had something to do with that manga as well. Now he does Super.

In the Japanese dub, its different, Piccolo knows and asks him if he is dead or if he has ascended because he can sense godhood or divinity just like Kami or Kaioshins.. and before that Goku promises to one day help piccolo out of hell, that he doesn't deserve to be there in hell, and piccolo replies stating that he actually likes it and he enjoys massacring every evil being in hell that starts shit or doesn't behave well in his presence. Then Master Roshi also senses the same that Goku has ascended, and that he is no longer alive, and he senses that Gokus's spirit and energy are now fused/mixed with Shenrons spirit/energy/cosmos, both of them Piccolo and Roshi figured it out in the first moments because they are top tier martial artists and have higher senses in reading other beings. both of them wished Goku farewell to wherever he was going with Shenron and becoming one with him. And then you have Vegeta who found out that he was dead or that he died there and believed that the person talking through Gokus's body was or had to be Shenron, Shenron was using a form of after image of Goku.. Goku was erased when he fought Omega, he died when Omega threw his negative bomb, and Goku used his body and he died, and that's why you see Goku's clothes on the ground... Goku died in the big hole/pit but he was brought back by Shenron, temporarily, as it they had made a pact together to win using some form of ability, magic power from Shenron, and Gokus power, but then again Shenron also died because Omega or smoke Shenron is basically Shenron also, but his evil counterpart, similar to how Nameless Namekian turned into Kami and King Piccolo... The same happened to Shenron, he turned into Smoke Shenron and then all of his 7 shadow evil dragon balls. And at this point, the boy who is a Munkey becomes the King of all. King Sun Wukong. Goku ascended to become the King of all together with Shenron at the end of GT. An immortal with all knowledge, abilities, and powers! This is straight out of the Japanese language, not what you see here in English or Spanish...

Goku's growth and development has been amazing. But Vegeta, he was the universes strongest.... and he got stronger.... more powerful..... when he got a family.... Beautiful.... powerful.... Vegeta is a role model for men who feel alone
*For people who don't know* : Goku actually died against Omega Shenron and when he get back to throw a universal spirit bomb at him he was already dead, Omega even tried to hurt himwith some attacks but they didn't work. Then after this Goku dissapear with Shenron and became one with the dragon balls to come back after 100 years to realise Goku Jr's wish to save Grandma Pan's life
FR, they say “Goku was dead when his son was born/ growing up”. Bro he died to save the earth and protect his son/friends. I haven’t seen many fathers better than someone like that
goku didn't live with a father, yea he had his grandpa gohan but he died when goku was at a young age so he really doesn't know much how to be a father and even with that goku actually was a good father even if he's not spending time with his sons the moments where he's having some time with gohan or goten these moments are truly remarkable.
