I know this video only ever got 1,500 views but I want you to know it's very important to me and I try to listen to every few days. I'm glad I live in the world where this video exists as it captures a very specific pained feeling and captures a mood few works of art do. I would actually love to hear how you came up with the sample selection and the visual art.
Hey man, thanks for the comment and thoughts - much appreciated! The sample choice was just going through simply reds discography because he's been sampled tons before and I was intrigued to see what I could find. The visual is from the first leisure suit larry game and though I never played it thoroughly I remembered seeing the image of the outside club in a video years ago and saw the resemblance to the wretched excess from the original. A lot of influence came from the original where I'd ask the same question to Lopatin on how he came up with original 'END OF LIFE ENTERTAINMENT SCENARIO'. It's something that I and, I think, even Lopatin can't explain. Nostalgia really is an overused buzzword but vaporwave, for me, is the ability to turn aged pop music into ambient spaces that resonate with ones memory or even interpret the original songs lyrics meaning into a new one. Vaporwave is able to evoke this inexplicable deep feeling and most of it is connected with memories not just neon, VHS, laser,, marble head, 80/90s aesthetics (another overused buzzword). Anyways that's my pretentious interpretation and I apologise for the late reply. Thanks again and keep safe :)
Man....man, this hits so hard. I've had such a difficult year, a major health issue which involved 3 surgeries in 2 weeks, spent one and a half month in a hospital...now I'm doing well but I cant turn a blind eye on the feeling of how fragile we are, how much we should be enjoying life every single day rather than getting worried by minor issues. Hold on, guys. Long life the vaporwave scene.
To the people right now and to the Future I know every comments is old but not mines but soon people will forget this comment, but this music had change my life and I like to thank for vaporwave and the people who made it better, like some people Vaporwave isn't dead, it just being reborn just like us (Humans) so Long Live VaporWave and for the people who made VaporWave better. Because if not, we won't express our feelings and our mood. #LongLiveVaporWave #VaporWavewillriseagain
wow, thank you for your comment :) Vaporwave changed my point of view too. I am glad I found this genre and I love it! Yeah, I think we both came a litte too late to get the peak of this genre, but hey, as you said, Vaporwave is not dead! In my opinion, Vaporwave is alive as long as people like you and me comment or response to comment, write a blog post or post a video about it or even make vaporwave him/herself. We keep it alive!
Wow...I don't know...but this gives me the feeling of isolation...I imagine myself alone in a dark appartment in a big city on the 30th floor on a rainy night with a cup of coffee in my hand, looking out the window to all the happy people on the streets. And I am here above these happy people, all by myself, no one around I know and no one to talk to, listening to this track and try not to cry...feels sad :(
