Kromaggs weren't a terrible idea. The show would have been fine if Tracey and Robert never left as writers. They left season 3 I think. If Tracey and Robert could have kept creative control it would have been fine.
@@redsectorprotectorate both Tracey and Robert were against the Kromaggs idea, they actually offered 3 different ideas, all of which were rejected by the network. Ryan added to the cast Logan St Clair Wrong professor slides Any of those three options would have been a million times better than the Kromaggs.

He came up with the idea in an article about a Sniper bullet almost hit George Washington's head while crossing the Delaware River. He said, "What if that bullet hit the target?" They did another episode about a "nearly perfect" mirror to their home (even their counterparts there were also lost sliders, so they had the chance to just take over their lives) where only minor things not relevant to their lives were different, and decided it wasn't good enough. Frankly I would just take one of the almost worlds.
What I would have done is found a good world and did my sliding from there, and let it retrieve me when the timer ran out, instead of dealing with the struggles of having to find food and new money and equipment from world to world. I wondered why they couldn't get home, if the timer always opened a portal to the world they were on to retrieve them, it must have been set up/programmed to specify that world, like with the basketball and when Quinn went to weird world where Elvis was still alive. I guess Quinn didn't know how it did that
They actually got home at the end of one episode but only had 30 seconds time there, they found out the gate didnt creak so they slid on only for the audience to find out Quinn's mother had the handyman oil the gate. Infuriating.
When I first saw this, i really thought they were back home and the series would be about them going back and forth from home, but when i saw his dad walk in I felt like the cast, shocked and scared. Great Pilot
This show was my favorite series as a kid and teenager until they killed Arturo. It turned into shit after that. And this pilot and ending was amazing.
Show had SUCH potential, the possibilities were nearly endless with all the alternate Earth's they could have gone to and story ideas for them, and I thought THAT was what the series would be, this, the pilot, is what I think is the best episode, and the first season, after that it pretty much goes downhill.
I liked this show except for the last two seasons when they killed off the professor and Wade. Would've been better if they kept them and the idea of Kromaggs was a big mistake. Don't know what the creators were 🤔
If you read interviews from jerry and john. They both regret leaving. John says leaving was the single biggest mistake of his career. I know jerry and him want to do the reboot. But they'd never get Sabrina back. She's been retired since 2013 and has zero interest in acting anymore it seems.
i WOULDN'T have regretted leaving considering what the show became, just like Roy Sneider left after becoming disgusted at what SeaQuest became, THAT I can understand. What I DID regret is how bad it became after the first season....and would cleavant derricks want to return?
Who could blame any of them for leaving. The way I heard it the network higher ups enforced too many changes to the show that strayed it away from what it was originally conceived as.
Okay I'm confused. Do this episodes tie together? I watched the show back when it was on Hulu but i swear the episodes were out of order. Rewatching today because i miss the show. Yet, i cant seem to find how they leave this.
actually, fox DID show them out of their intended order for ratings, yes. The right episode in order after this is summer of love, but they chose fever instead and others instead of the correct order. That's why the inconsistencies
the end of the first episode and the pilot was when they all realized just how identical and similar in appearance all the worlds are. all the worlds look the same but every earth is different. some world's are exactly the same as their earth some world's are completely different from their earth and some world's exactly the same as their earth but only slightly different their different but not as different as other earths. but the one thing that's the same and all the "earths" have in common is all the worlds look the same and are similar in appearance.
The most interesting slide was they had a month or two until the next slide and had to get jobs to make money while they were there that was funny because usually it's only a short time on each world
So glad I can watch this free over the air on comet. I watched this as a kid. Not quite as I remember it but still a great show. Don't like the new girl as much. Shame they got rid of the indiana Jones guy, and then eventually the main character is gone???
Quinn's father had died years before (or so Quinn thought at the time.) They thought they were back home but when "dad" came home they all knew it wasn't our Earth.
