Bloomburrow play boosters felt like a bait and switch. Only after I started to open my box did I realize that they completely changed the play booster pack and drop rates. I had a ton of duplicates, way fewer rares and mythics, and only 3 showcase/extended art cards in total. This was noticeably less than what I was used to with set booster packs (even the play boosters from OTJ felt way better). So much so, that I went online to figure out wtf was going on. After reading the changes and watching the Prof's recent video to see his box opening was similar to mine. I feel pretty burned by this and won't be touching sealed products until they improve the pack-opening experience.
I had a pre-order for a different product at my LGS, but it fell through, so I had a credit and I negotiated for a Bloombarrow play booster box. I kept one sealed at home, and opened this one. No exaggeration: It was my worst box opening ever 😢
Claiming that Flesh and Blood "seems to be the same" is crazy. It has grown a tremendous amount. Please actually look into the game and how well LSS are doing. Don't badmouth a game that you're biased against because your friend screwed up
Gem data shows their active player base has grown maybe 15% in the 2 years since I moved on. They have reduced print runs significantly, from nearly 300,000 per set to now 175,000, the and their online presence from content creators has not changed very much. I coulda discussed all these things. I also coulda discussed the nature of their toxic online community. Instead I discussed the one thing I am sure of - that no one ever walks in the store asking for the game. I’m sorry you can’t accept that criticism, just like I’m sorry they couldn’t accept criticism of their game 2 years ago.
@KitchenTableTCG Wow, you're still spreading misinformation. I have personally subscribed to what seems like a new channel a week when it comes to game coverage😂 The print runs decreasing is most definitely a good thing (which I believe is an opinion shared by the majority of the playerbase who understands economics to a minor degree). They were way overprinted before. LSS listen to their fanbase and have changed many of their practices because of us and our feedback. You just don't like that your shitty feedback wasn't implemented. Lastly, the fact that nobody comes to your store for flesh and blood is nowhere near an unbiased example. You actively give a negative option of the game, and your drama with LSS was widely viewed in the fab community. Of course you won't see many, or any, people asking for product.
Can’t help but think the Asmodee debt from Embracer is what’s driving stuff like the convention packs and Amazon boxes. Just hope they don’t end up doing anything more drastic, I’m so invested in Unlimited right now.
As the election nears, I am thinking about how policy changes might impact market growth. Election results often affect sector performance, create market volatility, and require adjustments to your investment strategy amid legislative shifts
Absolutely. Unemployment rates may also rise, and economic pressures could increase. However, there are opportunities in the market right now. My $150k portfolio has experienced a 70% increase over the past four months by capitalizing on volatile sectors. If played well, volatility is your friend
I'm very pleased with the state of Sorcery. The tendies farmers are gone, the player base is small but strong, thw value for collectors is stable, the new set looks great and Gencon appears to be a success that will be bring in new players. Excited for the future of this game!
I'm also happy with the one set per year. It has been refreshing to explore beta without the hype train shoving a new set down my throat. Plus, after 30 years of magic, I look at these boxes and boxes of cards that I'll never play with (humanly impossible) and think I'm tired of all the bulk. Once I get a playset of beta there's nothing to chase unless I want foils. Love that! Probably not all that great for game stores if you want to keep selling product but Sorcery isn't going to support a store alone, so it seems fine...again, not a store owner so what do I know?😂
You're totally correct, players dictate everything. If people don't have a game to play, they will not collect it, "invest" in it or talk about it. Every tcg youtube channel is a bubble that does little to represent real people who will be willing to support a game for their whole lives. Magic is definitely pumping. Sorcery will be running into an October gauntlet with Duskmourn, Union Arena, Altered and that One Piece set. I think Sorcery will do well there but I don't think sales will be able to match the hype level. I don't know how many people are coming in with a new set of a game they haven't heard of though. The tcg player pool is so tiny that selling 2 sets just as well is impossible. Beta and maybe Alpha will go down as people sell off to buy AL but I don't see much new blood as we're all being pulled to several improved and new tcg's Your avatars are a great idea. Sorcery works with stuff like this because no one is going to call you out for being creative and trying to kick you out of a game. It's not taking itself too seriously and rewards the community for ingenuity.
I'm thinking they will do multiple phased releases over this next year rather than dump all the supply at launch, which should help keep prices at MSRP. Also gives them some leeway to adjust distro/MSRP if needed.
Hi kitchen table, i am going to drop some facts. Hope you dont mind. Since you stopped covering the game flesh and blood, the following things have occured. Number of LGS onboarded to gem and support flesh and blood increased from sub 2000 to now 4500+. Number of countries where product is sold went from 20s to 50+. Pro prize winnings went from 1 million to 1.5 million. Number of talishar games started less than a million to 7 million+. Game was just introduced to Japan with offering of product in Japanese. Last time a western tcg made its way into Japan in their native language was MTG in the 90s. Company grew from 12 employees to over 40. Company went from 0 to 5 self owned distribution centers world wide. Look i know you are jaded, but you are doing your listeners a huge diservice by letting your sour thoughts get in the way of what is actually happening. To say the game has not done much is tremendously dishonest and hense why you are completely shunned by the community. Get your emotions out of it, you will do better.
To add, it's been almost 2.5 years since sorcery kickstarter and they still have not released a second set. All your other indy game interests have failed. Yet flesh and blood continued to thrive and grow. If you want to be taken seriously, you need to do your research and actually derive an opinion based on facts even if you do not like them.
Game store here, smaller one still, but I do think Star Wars has been ok. Not enough product to really advertise but it feels like we're getting more in consistently even if it's a small amount.
Play boosters hardly having showcase frames, and no commander or other extended border cards is locking all of those cards to collector boosters. At the same time they're printing less than ever of collector boosters, which is great for speculators but not for players that want the cards. There's got to be a better middle ground that avoids things like ixalan being $100+ over initial pricing within 6 months after release and DND collectors being $100ish for a time. If that's the only source for this wide swathe of the cards it should at least be readily available close to launch price for a year, with high enough demand causing a new print run minus serial cards. Let player demand decide for the first year, then leave it to the market to inflate the prices. The secret lair mess is regularly showing that wizards is underestimating demand and leaving money on the table that all goes to the secondary market. Great for stores and those people, bad for players and the company.
Also I’d appreciate if your podcast sidekick stopped disrespecting me on your podcast. I don’t even know him and am not sure why he has an overtly negative stance against my tireless positive efforts for the community, the game, and its artists. It’s very bushleague and disrespectful.
@CollectorArthouse You are an awesome guy and do great things for Sorcery. I like the way you bring the background story of the artwork to light and delve into the culture that is hand painted artwork. Much respect my friend ❤
Sounds pretty biased because of your fallout with LSS. The developer behind Flesh and Blood. Probably not the right person to talk about this with your baggage.
@CrosswaIk you'd think FAB would be like that but the players I've met and the stores that have carried have always felt like this weird combination of cocky they carry/play fab but chip on their shoulder that fab is a scrappy underdog that needs protected cause its not big3
@@CrosswaIkI don’t think spreading speculation/misinformation as facts to pump the market for the purpose of your personal gain as a somewhat sized content creator is “lightly speculated”. I don’t know if it’s worth a ban by LSS but it definitely doesn’t look good. At certain size you need to be responsible for what you’re talking about especially there’s money tied.
Speaking of software for TCGʻs... the program you use to run Star Wars tournaments is HORRIBLE... its super basic and doesn't have a lot of the ease of use things you need when running a tournament...
Flesh & blood reminds me of a game if all the mtg grinders left and made their own game. I’ve tried so hard to support it but it’s almost impossible. The company doesn’t care about local stores, the players seem to be 100% focused on prizing and there is no new player onboarding. I’d carry yugioh before I try fab again and I’d never carry yugioh 😂
Ya this comment makes no sense lmao. I work at an LGS and LSS are great. They care a lot and are currently selling a onboarding process product because they know it's one of their pitfalls. People need to actually educate themselves before opening their mouths
LSS mistreated stores and especially content creators like Rudy/George, when their competition was Metazoo they acted like they were the future of tcg's but as soon as OP,Sorcery came out FAB was exposed for the "big fish in small pond" that it was,I hope the virtue signalling was worth it to LSS
I don't know, you could be right but if the player numbers are real then FAB is lightyears ahead of the next game down. There's just not a big enough pool of tcg players to justify this many games.
@CrosswaIk-True I think FAB isn't going away but they were seen as the MTG alternative then MTG became great again,I know FAB is popular outside of the US but other than a few big cities nobody talks about FAB anymore like Lou says
All indie tcgs would kill to have fabs player base. The problem is the gap between fab and the next game up is significantly higher than anyone wants to admit. Lorcana and Star Wars are quickly becoming the competition for yugioh in the 3rd slot. This is where fab needed to be to have the success they wanted. Not sure if Star Wars can hold that up. But Lorcana isn’t going anywhere and stores can only support so many games. Indie games then have to scale to be successful when smaller, and I just don’t think fab aimed for that success. It was always “overtake the industry” and be massive, and they printed with that in mind, which is hard to overcome.
