I don't judge, but how and why aren't city officials and residents not doing anything to clean up the place to make everyday life a little bit better? Maybe it's easy for me to ask these kinds of questions because I am not one of the local. And again, I am not judging, it just boggles the mind that my fellow brothers and sisters can live like this.

It comes down to a few things, but the main two are corruption within the barangay system, like a counciling body for different areas, and just pure laziness and a 0 care factor from the people. It's quite confronting even in certain parts of manila, but they tend to keep it clean as could you imagine tourists getting off the plane to that? No one would come back, and phillipines relies heavily on the tourist dollar. The only real way you'll see this as a foreigner and even a filipino from different provinces is on here, as it can be very dangerous to go into these slums.

The solution to this are disciplinarian or authoritarian leaders. It has been proven by Marcos Sr., Duterte in Davao City and Bayani Fernando in Marikina City. Unfortunately Americans will always meddle and fund the ousting of such rulers. They will insist its democracy and Americans management are the solutions. That is why you will always see American poverty porn producers roaming these slums to make the people there lazier, loyal, and dependent to Americans. They always create propaganda that Filipinos need constant American management to be disciplined and civilized.

Q? I'm born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii...I'm 53 and have only seen in person ONE leader of ANY country. Ironically it was Ferdinand Marcos. In 1989 I worked security on stage with him at his birthday celebration. Anyways, is he the main cause of all this poverty?
