My girlfriend walked in on me playing this game and I was listening to the bard sing this and I was legit in tears and I showed her the song and then we were both crying LOL
I was playing through the whole game with my girlfriend and we were switching whos playing every few hours she cried 6 times throughout and I did twice, this song was one of them
Hearing this in Frostcliff tavern gave me chills, was like the moment you hear Priscilla first in Witcher, truly a moment I'l not forget. Can't get over how good the writing is in this mod, they've absolutely outclassed Bethesda themselves. I want Es6 mainly so Sure AI can make a sequel to Enderal.
I want SureAI to just make a game and have it crowd funded by us.. can you imagine how amazing that would be? Es6 is very likely gonna flop, but SureAI making a third in the series would make me buy it.
SureAI: using an engine the creators dont even know how to handle completely; brings out a better game series than the Creators. Bethesda: LetS MaKE Pe0pLe P4Y fOr ModS KeKEkeKeKEkekEk
I absolutely love how so many people share their stories of the first time they heard this song. I was in the middle of a quest and just needed a place to sleep. Found Myself at frostcliff tavern. Paid for the room and on my way to sleep I heard this song start. The melody, and her voice stopped me in my tracks. I turned around , found a nice place by the fire, pulled out my pipe, and just listened. I remember sitting there for at least 10 minutes afterwards just basking in the atmosphere. Truly a unique experience.
People complain about lack of fast travel. But unlike Skyrim, this game is all about immersion... Then you face the end game... I don't regret to let the cleansing as I think it's the right thing to do, but it sadden me every Time. I loved Enderal and it's diying world.
I went to the Undercity to see if I had enough pennies for some skill books. I started reading some signs along the way and I found one outside a door I'd never been to. For a lark, I went inside to see if there was anything interesting. A Bard was singing a very sorrowful song, and I decided to request some more music. I scrolled through my options and found this one at the very end. I thought, "I like winter, I like ice; I wonder if this will be as beautiful as the other song I heard
Lyrics (taken from Enderal's wiki) Hundred men they were As they set out to fight For their country's banner in distant, foreign lands He bid her farewell A love still young and green She thought she'd soon be in his arms again He told her:"Await my safe return. Trust in this last promise and stand firm Once moonlight shines red onto the seas We shall return in victory." They marched off, blue banners in the sky And teardrops were running from her eyes Yet she thought: "If only I believe, Time will bring him safely back to me." [Verse] When the red moon casts its light His ghost travels through the night Through the forests on wind's wings Until he reaches the old hill There she kneels before his grave Where their love had once been born And he caresses her face Yet she feels not his embrace Dark and red glows the winter sky Two souls divided by the threads of time Days turned into weeks Moon for moon passed by Yet no word from the battlefields arrived Months turned into years Peace now ruled the lands Empty graves were dug under the sky But never did she doubt his last oath Each night she stepped out into the cold She walked through the forest, climbed the hill Where she had once sworn her love for him And always, when summer bid goodbye And moonlight blood-red fell from the sky His ghost raised from dust-forgotten bones Searching for what he had lost too soon [Verse] [Voice Bridge] Decades had gone by; her hair ashen and thin Realms had fallen, war and dead forgotten When she walked the streets, they said that she was damned A victim to a past long gone and rotten Yet still she did not care for their words When night came she prayed for his return Each fall, when cold winds haunted the lands She hoped to once again hold his hand And as her last sunset drew close by She lingered forgotten in the night The moon's light shines bright upon her face She's waiting as her life fades away When the red moon casts its light His ghost travels through the night Through the forests on wind's wings Until he reaches the old hill There she kneels before his grave Where their love had once been born And as she closes her eyes A ray of light breaks through the sky And her skin turns into dust As her soul breaks from its shell And she joins him in the sky: Two shapes now freed from grief and time Then the winds take them away Through the woods, it's trees asway And she takes him by his hand At last, in peace they find their end Dark and red glows the winter sky Two souls divided by the threads of time Dark and red glowed the winter sky Two souls united by the threads of time
I'm 22 and up to this day Enderal has been the only game that managed to make me actually explore every single location in the map. And I mean explore. Not just discover the waypoints in the map. I always start exploring and quickly get bored and start just doing main and secondary quests. And it's also the only open world game that got me to actually fucking sit down at an inn when a banger like this showed up.
Enderal is a master piece, don't get me wrong, I like skyrim and all, but holy shit Enderal is in a class of it's own. The soundtrack alone is better than 90% of games out there let alone the story.
My jaw dropped when the female bard at the inn began to sing this. Was completely captivated throughout the entire song, almost forgot I was playing a game. It just hit all the feels. When it was over I wanted to give her an applause for the performance. Only game previously able to achieve that was the Barbershop Quartet in Bioshock Infinite. Now I listen to this outside of Enderal as well. 10/10 song well done!
Years later and this still gets me emotional. Never forget first hearing this in that snowy tavern, and standing totally silent and still through the whole song, captivated. THIS is how you do amazing bard songs in a game!
I just returned back to the Frostcliff Tavern with Calia after the Angel quest. This song was playing as she expressed her grief wrapping her mind over what just happened. The fantastic story/quest and voice acting mixed with this beautiful melancholy piece of music was just an outrageously fucking gorgeous scene. Truely one of the most encapsulating moments ive ever had in gaming.
It's 2023 & I'm still loving this song and this game. I'm so glad that I get to play this masterpiece of a game that's in essence a MOD but able to stand toe-to-toe with any game out there. I think my first 1 or 2 playthroughs were just to complete the game through the main quests and storyline, and yes it was amazing! It wasn't until my subsequent playthroughs that I explored the world more and OMG that's so much more to love, including this song ❤Everytime I visit a tavern, I'll try to find a bard to sing this song😆
Wait, is the end of this "Skin turns to dust, light breaks from the sky, soul falls to the sky" a reference to the cleansing? The cycle is seriously so well foreshadowed even the BARDS sing about it without knowing! And it gives such an interesting context to the ending, seeing the cleansing as a beautiful thing for some people.
I think it's rather tied to the Endralean religion's beliefs of cremation freeing the soul from the body and sending it onwards into the afterlife; however, I also think that it references the cleansing, but not intentionally. Like- Outside the world, the actual songwriter probably intended that, but I don't think in-world that was the intended meaning.
damn, i play this with below 15 fps, and made it through the end, and it's manage to slap my feelings, dang guys, you're awesome, this game win my heart...oh be still my heart...
also in night of the raven (song you can hear from bards in the undercity after finishing rhalata questline) there's this line: "step out of your flesh, float higher and higher/your sins will be paid, we'll snuff out the fire". yep, the cleansing is foreshadowed basically in every corner. this game, this fucking game
I wonder if this line meant that she was a vampire and is referencing the war with Dawnguard OR if it means that after her husbands death, she went to the battlefront herself and got herself shot and killed. (The "ray of light" is the tracer round that "burns" her skin and then she is freed.)

Months turned into years; Peace now ruled the lands; Empty graves were dug under the sky. But never did she doubt his last oath: Each night she stepped out into the cold; She walked through the forest, climbed the hill Where she had once sworn her love to him. And always, when summer bid goodbye And moonlight blood-red fell from the sky, His ghost raised from dust-forgotten bones, Searching for what he had lost too soon. _When the red moon casts its light,_ _His ghost travels through the night,_ _Through the forests on wind's wings_ _Until he reaches the old hill._ _There she kneels before his grave,_ _Where their love had once been born,_ _And he caresses her face,_ _Yet she feels not his embrace._ _Dark and red glows the winter sky,_ _Two souls divided by the threads of time._ [Voice Bridge] Decades had gone by, Her hair ashen and thin; Realms had fallen, war and dead forgotten. When she walked the streets, They said that she was damned, A victim to a past long gone and rotten. Yet still she did not care for their words. When night came, she prayed for his return. Each fall when cold winds haunted the lands, She hoped to once again hold his hand. And as her last sunset drew close by, She lingered, forgotten in the night. The moon's light shines bright upon her face- She's waiting as her life fades away. _When the red moon casts its light,_ _His ghost travels through the night,_ _Through the forests on wind's wings_ _Until he reaches the old hill._ _There she kneels before his grave,_ _Where their love had once been born,_ _And as she closes her eyes,_ _A ray of light breaks through the sky,_ _And her skin turns into dust_ _As her soul breaks from its shell_ _And she joins him in the sky,_ _Two shapes now freed from grief and time._ _Then the winds take them away_ _Through the woods, its trees asway,_ _And she takes him by his hand._ _At last, in peace, they find their end!_ _Dark and red glows the winter sky,_ _Two souls divided by the threads of time._ _Dark and red glowed the winter sky,_ _Two souls united by the threads of time._
Aidan La Sombra ikr? I've listened to it twice and both times I couldn't keep my eyes dry. It reminds me of the brutality of the American Civil War. Apparently I'm a sucker for love stories haha
If you want to hear more of the singer (I'm doing very low profile advertisement here :D) her name is Lara Trautmann (Lara Loft is how she calls herself on RU-vid). ru-vid.comfeatured She doesn't nearly get enough love. ^^
@@gracieannpinker1492 What are you talking about? The aged man was creepy and tied into the story really well. I loved hearing about him then actually meeting him
The first time I listened to this song was when I was doing Ca'liah Sakaresh's castle quest. I was haunted by the melody so much that my hands left the keyboard completely and I wept.
One of my favourite game moments was walking into the Sun Temple quarters for the first time, late at night. Everyone was asleep except me and the bard....and she sang this! I just stood and cried. Great job SureAi!
Amazing song, amazing mod, such a professional work of art! Played the mod liked 8 months ago, did everything I could in the game, still keep coming back for the music..
love all of the bard songs in this game, its hard to believe this is technically a Skyrim mod. im so glad i stumbled upon this gem of a game. added dreadful river to my wishlist to show support for this creator. they need to do the music for ES 6 or at least the beyond skyrim mods. the world building in these songs are second to none
Me, myself top tier Infiltrator, Warrior Of The Shadows, thief, burglar and cynical trickster was caught off guard by some invisible ninjas who began cutting onions like there was no tomorrow...
The very first great song in Riverville makes you suddenly convinced everything from Skyrim will pale in comparison. All taverns (Fat Leoran, Frostcliff, and even Red Ox) suddenly sound so real thanks to your music mastery. And now, although the fate of Enderal has already been sealed I tend to visit various taverns every now and then just to listen to Lara Trautmann (a voice behind this piece) and other performing artists, sipping a (real) glass of whisky.
This song represents so well the inevitable, the tragic destiny, the bittersweet which runs through this entire masterful epic that is Enderal. And also a testimony to the human condition. In those moments of listening, when a song like this opens my soul, I have so much compassion and love for humanity, for each of us. It's art, inspiration, divine flow.
This song feels like an anti-war song, that these two young lovers lost the happy life & family they could have had because he left to fight a war where he died. Though it ends hopeful with them embracing one-another in the afterlife.
Went in to the tavern in the noble quarter, heard the bard singing this, couldn’t find him at first, but when I did, I was lost for a moment just sat there listening to this, honestly no game has ever made me sit down quietly and listen to a song like this one did
Not only is the music of this game amazing, this piece especially in my mind, but it is only looking back after you finish the game you can see how all the various elements including this song itself are foreshadowing so much. Spoiler hint below. For those of you have beaten the game think of how it finishes in context of how this song ends.
Sorry, but I'm taking this masterpiece to my DnD game to make dramatic performance in the elven royal hall :) Made me tear up when I've listened to this song in the Frostcliff Tavern first 10 times.
The first time I heard this song, it was to go check on Tharaêl a few side quests after the end of Dark Chambers of our Minds. I just finished talking to him and checking in when the song started to play. I like to think that in the end of the game I freed him from his chains and gave him a new life.
Lightborn be Damned... I was doing some light breaking and entering when I heard this song a floor above me and I dropped everthing to creep closer and cry my eyes out. I make the worst Shadowdancer... you can defeat me with a single song. D:
It's insane to me that this is from modded content. This song is one of the most beautiful and touching I ever heard, game or no. Sadly hard task to make friends listen to this, but I will try my best to spread the word. Thank you Lara for your performance. You're giving me chills no matter how many times I listen to this on repeat
This can be called the anthem of all centuries-old wars. If approximately the same song had been written in ancient times, it would be relevant to this day.

Ele disse a ela: "Aguarde meu retorno seguro. A paz agora governava as terras. E o luar vermelho-sangue cai do céu.
OH my GOD i just came again to listen to this because it came into my mind , AND I REMEMBERED THE WHOLE STORY IN THE GAME , WICH MADE ME CRY AGAIN ! i just Wish that SUREAI make a continuing of this :( i wish this SO FUCKING BAD !!! id pay even 100 EURO, i wont give a damn :(
Amazing song, the writer must be congratulated. I was whistling this whilst walking for about five minutes before I realised where I'd heard it. What key/note is she singing in around 4:53? My ears are too teary to tell.
