Not one single life lost on any side ever moved Ireland closer to reunification or further consolidated the North’s position as a member of the UK. The British government’s position on consent is the same today as it was 50 years ago. The period of the troubles was an absolute futile waste of human life and history should remember it so.

It's incredibly selfish for the US to issue a visa to GA. Imagine that happening any other individual that had been involved in bombings. Would that have done that for a person involved in 9/11?

Did a pretty poor job of it. See Bloody Sunday. I think your view is what ordinary Catholic citizens hope for, but it became so clear that the Army was not there to protect Catholics, they simply couldn’t test that hope against reality
