Cory I loved this video. You take your time to not only explain but show how to shop and plant and position the plants and caves. I really appreciate it!
Hi cory, I'm very new to this hobby, and I so appreciate your videos ! I love that you can explain and show us, the proper procedures, from a beginners point of view. Most other videos can get so complicated, and very hard to follow. I have been planting/ setting up a 20 gallon, so I really wish I'd seen this video first. Thanks so much, for the effort you put into these videos! And I also am so impressed with all the orders I've gotten from you...its nice to be able to trust that I will recieve your products, exactly as shown, and so quickly. I am only 2 hours from your shop, have been there once, and will be coming back again soon. (when the snow and ice are gone!)
More of these Cory! I think this is a great series that really can help guide your customers into getting into more plants. I wasn't big on plants until I gained enough confidence to dive in (from your plants 101 series). Now I wouldn't build a tank without them. Great stuff Cory, hope you are having a good time at the Aquatic Experience!
I’ve watched a lot of your videos, and this one is my favorite so far. I’m just beginning in the hobby, so this was incredibly helpful. I love how you did a “walk-through” of the whole process- from the planning, to the shopping, to the planting. Things that may seem so basic to more experienced fish-keepers is brand new information for beginners. I learned a ton! THANKS CORY!!! Keep being awesome! 🐡
Cory, you are such a fantastic teacher! Thank you so much for all you share and do. I appreciate you so much and try to purchase lots from you. I’m fixing to buy a few of your lights. ❤️
EVERY single time I watch one of your vlogs, I learn something new! (even when I thought I had researched a topic! lol) Thank you SO much, you are definitely "a must watch" for the hobby. I appreciate you Cory. Take good care of you and yours.
from my understanding 'super glue' originated from the Army...they needed a quick way to close wounds when out in a war type situations till they could get soldiers to a safe place to operate...so this 'glue' was born...it is designed to 'dry' when wet...thus being perfect for closing wounds quickly when out in the battle field, which is of course why it 'cures' quickly when in contact with water.
I just set up another tank right before I clicked on this video. I didn't really add much yet. Just wanted to get the filter running, and tank cycling. Thanks Cory!
I am from Venezuela, when I was a child in my city San Cristobal in any creek they were obtained, we fish them and put them in glass containers with plants in a short time they did not fit, because of how prolific they are. Recently I went to run in a place near my city famous for having a hot springs resort, and next to the parking lot there was what looked like stagnant water very low and maybe dirty, I was surprised to see that it was full of these beautiful fish and it brought back memories of my childhood with a plastic cup. Now that I see your video I want to make in my house a big pond with fish from my region and put in these fish also a cichlid that we call "viejitas" very similar to the ramirezis and maybe some kind of catfish from the region. I hope in a while to tell you my experience and why not offer these specimens and have my own reservoir.
I ended up taking the bettas out just yesterday cause they were eating all the fry and not producing fry themselves. I'll see if I fit it in at some point.
That first piece of val looks all squished against the glass. Would look nicer up straight for the fish to swim through and do its flowy thing 😉. You can tell once it grows in some, it's going 2 look good! I need to make me a cave for my little stone cat. He's a very shy type of cat. Nocturnal. Love your vids!
My pH is 7.8 straight outa the tap. It's hard keeping stuff like my rams and rummynoses happy with that pH. But the 2 rams that I bought a few days ago are AMAZING. My ballon ram is colouring heaps too now that he has some friends.
Just wanted to say your videos have been amazing, as someone just starting out it's awesome to get an idea of what can be done. Plus your gravel cleaning video was 10/10
This is so helpful! I'm gonna be setting up my first (fully - I do have some pothos, marimo moss balls, and an anubias nana petite right now) planted tank after I move. I'm looking for low light plants that I don't have to inject CO2 for... some of these sound perfect!
good stuff. i always seem to get pin holes in my anubias. i started half doses of nitrogen twice a week along with Flourish and followed by Trace the next day twice a week . I used the flower pots after drilling the holes that I learned from you. they look awesome. does your easy green have more nitrogen in it then seachems trace.
cory love your videos, I'm new to plants in the aquarium, should you always take the plants out of the pots and plant them, or is it okay to leave them in the pots but submerge them into the substrate!
Howdy there Cory!! I love the way how you put it out there. You make it so easy for just about anybody. I'm working on my first ever 5.5 gl Aquarium, it is so much fun! In Oct. I'm gona try and do a 20 gl. Aquarium for my 60 Birthday. well, I'm a widow and I need to buy me some plants, So, Where and how is the best way I go about getting them.
in one of your other videos you said you said you use test strips instead of drop tests, where do you get them for cheap? at pet stores they are not cheap.
Cory sells the test strips on his website: www.aquariumcoop.com/collections/miscellaneous/products/tetra-6-in-1-test-strips In addition, there's well over 200 pumps in a bottle of Easy Green. If you have plants, Easy Green works great.
how did you make the holders for the plants in your store? Also I realized I was trying to grow elodea with the nutrients in the gravel and I had almost 10 hours of light. That was my first plant though and I have learned a lot more!
hey cory, do you think you could sell some plant maintaining tools such as trimmers and tweezers on your website? I'd love to get my hands on some but my lfs doesnt carry them
+john Mercovich I'm gonna work on it soon. The ones I carry in my store can't be sold online, looking at other manufacturers this week. Found some I like at the show here.
Hey cory! Wanted to ask you something....i put the order in to try your fert liquid and tabs,i also ordered your pellets to try. I wanted to know if it would be possible to add a jar of rapeshy food and 2 dwarf Sagittarian plants and ill pay the difference on them and shipping or do i need to just place a whole new order....thanks buddy and sorry for the incovience
+eddiekytia I replied via email, but will reply here also just in case. It looks like we have already shipped your other order so you would have to place a new one. Thanks for the order!
I have a 20 gallon long aquarium that is almost done cycling and I've been playing around with the idea of what types of fish I'd like. I was wondering if it's possible to do cherry shrimp, oto cats, neons & & ember Tetras. Is that to much for the tank if I did a decent sized school of the Tetras and a smaller school of oto cats? Any positive advice and feedback is welcome!
Aquarium Co-Op overthought it and ends up just doing neons and oto cats instead. Too much animosity I'd rather they be in a bigger school then have less of them, and different types.! But thanks for the advice and love your Chicago experience. Just saw your newest video and love how you take the time for fans! Hope I can one day stop into the shop and see the man behind the magic!
Beth Rose im pretty sure u don't they plants will use the poop as fertilizer if there's a lot of plants... I don't suggest planting in gravel tho either sand or dirt
What's a good floating plant besides duckweed (if that's even a plant lol) and can nana petite grow well as a floating plant? Great setup btw I like how the betta came to inspect your progress lol
+Kala C Nana petite can kind of be grown like a tumble weed if left to float. Water lettuce, water sprite, frog bit, salvinia are all some other floating plants as well.
Aquarium Co-Op hey man, thank you for replying! Still trying to catchup on your latest videos, sad to hear its no longer around but can't wait to see what guppy/endler tanks you have left :-) hi from New Zealand btw!
They are 2 different lines. Blue silverado are more blue and a pure line has the peacock spot on the tail. El silverado is more greenblue/silver and has the red lines on the tail.
Do you think the reason as to why the bettas aren't breeding is because the water is too hard ? I'd personally try to lower it and do blackwater, just a thought.
Aquarium Co-Op Well thats the tap. Didn't you say you put crushed coral in to harder the water? That might be raising it just above their liking. I'd personally separate them and just do a blackwater tank and do a shallower tank like a 20 long or so, that way they don't have to go all the way up to breath and have to fight the strong along filter. probably set back the lighting too and a lot of leaf litter with all those Indian almond leaves you have. then do a small Asian fish like espei rasboras or so as a dither. Thats just what I would do I think you would have much better results with that. Just spitting some ideas out to you, trying to help. Also most discus will breed in whatever water they want if they are captive bred for the most part, its just harder to hatch the regs and you get more bacterial issues in harder water. But just some thoughts, be cool to.see them spawn, I'd love to get a pair myself. can't fine them in New England though.
That's the reason why i asked. Im doing EI dosing, and i think im going to try an experiment. Put a crypt on one side with root tabs and one side without and see how well they do.
