Im probably gonna post a in depth "In the Making video" for this very soon!
I have tried to participate in every one of Clint's 3D challenge but every time I quit because of time constrains and other issues. This time, even finishing this project on time is more than enough for me. On top of that, I am really proud of how this turned out at the end. There are still some things that I want to improve and work on but I didn't wanna cut too close to the deadline. I guess I'll leave those for the next challenge. Thanks to each and everyone who helped me with suggestions, resources and feedbacks. I absolutely love the support and enthusiasm of this community towards each other's work and I am glad to be a part of it. Best of luck everyone!

This is probably the most "thinking outside the box" of all entries. Bravo. One tiny thing I'd like to point out - the kids running animation. Whenever you run or chase something your head you don't shake it side to side and in this case should be fixed on the paper boat.

Love the recreation of the boat scene from IT. Love how it subverts expectation from the overall challenge. My only gripe with it, is that the boat, with no propulsion of itself, is being carried by the water current. Therefore, the water current should move at a faster pace towards the camera than the boat's speed. Having light debris, currents or bubbles could show this. Again, overall, very impressed. Best of luck in the contest.

Totally agree about the boat being carried by the water. I tried parenting the water to the boat and making the boat go slightly slower but this I all I could get in the amount of time I had for this challenge. I actually added the leaves on the water just to add to the sense of speed as you suggested with the debris. Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

Thanks a lot. That was the initial idea but the scale of the character was too big for the sewer and since its dark and at a high speed nobody would've recognize it.

Super super nice, one of my favorites of all the submissions! But I can't stop wondering about if it could've looked even more realistic if the water moved with the boat. With traditional boats it makes sense that they move relative to the surface but in the case of a paper boat the water is making the boat move. 🤔

why doesn't the boat have any effect on the water? like some little ripples or something

During the RnD phase I did have water ripples but at the end I reduced them. I figured the paper boat doesn't pierce through water like a speedboat, rather it just floats above it. I know im still lacking on some aspects at the end of the day and I wish I had more time to make it more believable but it is what it is. Cheers!
