There was an eastbound Metra train due to come in less than 10 minutes on main 3. So that westbound had to get out of the way. There was track maintenance just to the east, so it couldn’t be on main 1. In addition there is no 2-1 crossover at that location. Trains have occasionally made middle track stops at other stations. But only 1-2 cars would open, usually at the grade crossing and passengers are told in advance to move to the open cars in order to get off.

There was track maintenance on main 1 just to the east. We’ve seen middle track stops in the past at the same Hinsdale stop and also in Downers Grove.

We had photographers in 3 separate towns along the line. Hinsdale, Downers Grove, and Naperville
