Thank you so much Dr. Ryan. I love all of your videos. I am a D2 dental student and I haven't started any endo course yet. But I love this specialty and that's why I started learning about it and I found your videos very very helpful. Would you please recommend an endo book for me to start? Thanks,

Hi Dr. Ryan, thanks for the super informative video! I had 3 questions: 1. What is the difference between a strip and root perforation? 2. Is immediate pain, hemorhaaging a sign for any of the types of perforations? 3. what is coronal flaring? Thanks so much!!!

Thank you so much for the videos. I just had a quick question regarding your thought process when deciding to do a root canal treatment in one session or multiple visits? Thanks
@mentaldental
@mentaldental 3 года назад
Personally, I do one session in the vast majority of cases. If a pulp is clearly necrotic and periapical infection is significant, I may split the root canal therapy into multiple visits to evaluate initial response.

Why does root perforation more apical have better prognosis? Can u please elaborate??

What's the difference between strip perforation and root perforation
@ioana4697
@ioana4697 2 года назад
Strip perforation is a furcal perforation is it not?
@kcmg20

Hi Dr. Ryan, which has a better prognosis, transportation or perforation through furcation?
@mentaldental
@mentaldental 3 года назад
There are no studies that compare the two. Perforation through a furcation and transportation at the apex with a lesion are both bad. Any kind of complication lowers prognosis.
@kcmg20

@@mentaldentalIn my thought process, since there are areas that are harder to flush out even with the help of EDTA, I thought transportation would be worse of the two evils. Since MTA/CaOH are wonderful materials, there is a better chance for the perforation to be salvaged. (I'm overthinking things because of the boards just in case I come across a question like that.)

if NiTi files are flexible then why they used to be more fracture ?
@mentaldental
@mentaldental 4 года назад
Great question. In terms of mechanical properties of metals used in dentistry, the more flexible something is the less strength it tends to have, which means it is more likely to fracture at a lower force. This can be said for NiTi as opposed to something stronger but less flexible like stainless steel.

@@mentaldental Alright. Thank you. :)

in flexible niti wire we cannot see any signs of fatigue of the wire so we overuse them most of the times leading to fracture whereas steel instruments show fluting distortion highlight unwound and twisted regions which helps us in seeing fatigue and discarding them the material property is also a reason told by ryan
