Me too, pain lasted for many days, at least a week. Extremely heavy bleeding for 10 days per month. Throwing up, diarrhea, iron deficient, blood clots...just horrible. In fact, had my children naturally and the pain from endometriosis was same as transitional labour's. Finally had hysterectomy at 35. Took year to fully recover, but once I did, night and day difference in quality of life.

I had all of these symptoms and I was in awful pain. Eventually I had a total hysterectomy. It was such a relief. I was 41 and fortunately I had my family.

@@Livingmydreammm The doctor put me on HRT because I was too young to be without eastrogen, perhaps that would help you, it helped me considerably.

Congenital! Back in the 1980's, my gynecologist didn't diagnose me; instead, he suggested I take some more magnesium:(

The week before my first period I was very bloated, sick with nausea and vomiting dizziness, experienced pain in my low back, low abdomen, vagina, groin, upper inner thighs, rectum and coccyx. I found out I was most likely born with Hoshimoto's thyroiditis. And at 12 I was diagnosed end stage with hypothyroidism. So when my first period was about to start I had cramps that were so horrible the nurse called my mom because she thought I had appendicitis. I was extremely pale, sweaty and clammy. My mom took me to the ER. When the male Dr took me back and did a physical hands on assessment of me, by pushing around my abdomen and above my pelvic area he told me he could literally see my uterus contract through my abdominal muscles. He asked me if I had started my periods yet and I told him I hadn't. He told me that I would soon start I told him, everything in my nether regions hurt and so did my middle, lower back, tailbone and butthole. He left and went to get some meds to help my symptoms and get me some fluids to drink. I went to the bathroom and had actually just started my period at that moment. It looked like a murder scene in the toilet. I had large dark clots and had hard contractions. I felt nauseous and weak. My periods were like that until I got pregnant with my son at 18 yrs old. After I had back labor and a non-working epidural for him, I dreaded starting my cycle all over again. My monthly cycle was always the same. Spotting between periods even with my thyroid levels in check with my thyroid replacement medication. Painful ovulation with bloating, spotting, nausea, dizziness, and then heavy bleeding with clots, for 7 to 10 days where I was heavy until the final day and miserable from the week before to the week off my period. Pads irritated my nether regions and anus as well as the blood irritated my skin. Tampons never stopped or slowed my flow. When I was home, I sat on a towel and wore dark sweat pants. I couldn't do anything for almost 2 weeks. I already suffered anxiety, depression, brain fog, fatigue, body aches and joint stiffness and aches, constipation, decreased appetite and thirst, intolerance or heat and cold and had trouble with sweating when I got hot and would over heat. I tried easily and had no stamina. I wasn't really over weight at 125-135lbs and 5 foot 7 inches. I did weight lifting but couldn't run, climb stairs or hills, swim, had trouble doing sit ups and pull ups, suffered chronic neck and back pain and got short of breathe. I ate as well as I could and stayed hydrated but I mentally and physically felt like a fat lazy, airheaded child. My friends could go out for activities and sports or walk the mall. I am pretty smart but had a hard time finishing my homework and sometimes remembering homework information or even figuring it out. It took me hours into the middle of the night. I suffer insomnia and I would try to sleep but sometimes would have to try to finish homework before school and right before my classes. I hate tests because I get anxiety and will forget everything I learned even if I studied. My friends would call or come over and I would have to tell them I was busy with family because I was still doing my homework. They would tell me they finished it already or that they would do it after dinner or before bed and get it finished! After my son was born, my periods actually became amazing! No symptoms at all. No cramps, spotting or feeling bad at all. I bled light for 3 days! And it continued for my next pregnancy, my miscarriage and my next pregnancy. After my last daughter was born I got my tubes tied. And then my periods changed. They got heavier and longer My symptoms started to appear. They weren't as bad at first, but they returned to what they were before I had children. I was miserable yet again. I felt embarrassed when I started working as a full-time hospital night shift nurse. I had started using period panties, cups and discs, and added washable period pads of different sizes because I was sensitive to everything. I was starting to overflow my cup and disc, with period panties and pad, every hour for 5-7 days. I had to go around like a teen with a sweatshirt tied around my waist because I had blood all over my scrubs. My pain got more horrible that it ever had. My ovulation was bad. My cramps were like being in active back labor. My nerves in my lower body were on fire. My liver enzymes elevated, my bladder would hurt spasm and I would pee myself without noticing. I also started having loose bowels and my stomach wouldn't digest my food and I go through chronic bouts of nausea, vomiting and headaches and incontinence of my bowels. My arms and legs swell and pit and turn red purple and white. I'm dizzy and pass out all the time. I get short of breath and I can't stand much activities at all. I can't stand or sit for long. I can't drive. My male Dr neglected, gaslighted and dismissed my pain and symptoms. He told me it was all normal period symptoms and to woman up. He said it was anxiety and refused to send me to any specialty except GI. They told me I had a hiatal hernia and GerD. When he went on vacation and I had to see his female NP, she was shocked that for almost 10 years my Dr ignored my female symptoms and gave me a diagnosis of anxiety for every visit and didn't repeat lab work, have me evaluated for pain management or get seen at any other specialty. I have seen almost every specialty now. I have been diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction, IC, NAFLD, chronic pain syndrome, PMDD, PMS, endometriosis, PCOS, gastroparesis, chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety depression, PTSD, CPTSD, bipolar type 1, ADHD, insomnia with severe psychosis and hallucinations, RLS, collapsed bilateral eustachian tubes, POTs, ST with hypertension and several other problems. It took 1 year to get all those diagnosis. I have nerve damage from the endometriosis being left untreated for so long. It ate into my right ovary,. fallopian tube, ureter,.and kidney bladder, stomach, liver, spleen, diaphragm, pelvic floor, peritoneal cavity, lumbar spine, colon, and rectum. Damage has been done. And I'll probably always have pain and issues.

I have almost all of the signs and symptoms of Endometriosis except my period lasts nolonger than five days, but I've been diagnosed with Adenomyosis which is more complicated to address, endometrial tissue rather grows into the muscle of the uterus lining, and it acts exactly the same way, during menstruation when on period, the pain is excruciating, and it has gotten worse from what it was in 2015, to what it is now in 2023. I have had an artery embolization, about six months ago, but the pain seems like it never really disappears.

It is not endometrial tissue. Who ever has told you that, is incorrect.

I had this...... my tissues were everwere.... I had terrible periods. My legs were so painful and every time I had my period I would get sick...... they did all kind of test on me for along time....could not see it.... tillllll. One day I had my period and I could not pea...it felt like I had to but it would pinch and not come out. Lucky I was working at the hospital. I went right over to the ob... they had to put a cathedral in me. It came out green and yucky looking..... I had to have emergency hysterectomy. They though it would take 4 hours because they had to make sure they scoped around and got all the tissue. I was lucky...it only took a half a hour....

First thing, endometriosis is NOT the presence of endometrial tissue in abnormal locations. It was once assumed to be this, up to date literature and studies have proven this to be false.

You're so right! It's endometrial like tissue. It's not exactly made of what the endometrium is made of. Updated medical studies have shown this to be true. The endometriosis summit and Nancy's nook are great sources to refer to for updated medical info

@@jesswolfe. yup ppl like me who have faced it literally can only know how worse it can get. Unlike like this main commenter who haven’t even experienced it. It’s the biggest nightmare of any women. Still I am not able to conceive just cz of this illness and sadly I am getting the symptoms again even after surgery.
