My first exposure to Momen was in the 80's. I read "Introduction to Shi'i Islam"·. Halfway through I thought to myself, this author is so fair in his history, he sounds like a Bahá'í. @@JamshidRowshanI don't need to speak Arabic. Shoghi Effendi is the only authoritative translator before the Universal House of Justice. Mr. Dunbar may have verbally misquoted but you seem to be taking issue with the official Scripture as translated by the Guardian and House. If that's not the case then my apologies. My understanding of the official translation is that God's love is always available to us as long as we turn to him.

It is surely the original text that should never be changed. The translations will continue to vary as more and better translations are made.
