If I'm not mistaken, Gaius does explain why he isn't joining the Ilsabard Contingent if you speak with him during those quests. At the time of it's formation, he is still widely considered a traitor in Garlemald and was still the prime suspect for Varis' assassination. Him being there with us would've made Garlemald an even bigger shitshow than it was.

One thing about Hydaelyn's death that struck me is that her people believed that once one's purpose was fulfilled they would return to the aethereal sea, but as Venat she made the choice to not do so. It was only after her purpose as Hydaelyn was fullfilled that she returned to the aethereal sea. One of her final lines, even, is about how her purpose has finally been fulfilled by having humanity become strong enough to overcome despair. At the very least it was a nice bit of foreshadowing back in Elpis and a neat full circle moment, but it also has a lot of interesting implications and comparisons to Hermes' rejection of that same idea but with vastly different reasons and results.

Hi, Don't quote on this, but i think at some point of the story someone says the reason why Gaius does'nt go to Garlemald is due to don't make look the contingent is sopporting the traitor that "kill" the emperor. (i think is Lucia who says it)

In Stormblood content, The Forbidden Lands of Eureka involves Krile quite a bit.

If you want a bit more back story is Krile, I recommend doing Eureka. She has a big role in that story. I just wish Y'shtola had more to do myself. She's never really had a growth arc like the others.

Ultima Thule as we entered are recreation that Meteion and her sisters created from memories of civilization they visited. So what the scions did when they "sacrifice" themselves, is basically the same as what we did at the end, using their memory, experiences, ideology to show hope to Meteion that responsible for creating those space. Like Estinien can use his experience with Vitra and the Dragonsong War to help Meteion of the dragon planet to overcome her despair.

the body swap wasn't zenos' prank, it was fandaniels. and i felt like zenos was as disappointed as you that he didn't get to do anything to the scions. but fandaniel had other plans to begin with. zenos on the moon finds out that he was basically just a puppet where he believed he was on top of the situation. that imo is what triggers the subtle character development. he realizes that he isn't in the center of interest (probably never was) of your character. he realizes that stormblood is over and he's not the biggest threat or even a major thing to be worried about. he isn't even a garlean leader anymore, just a big strong bully.

If you want some more Fordola you should look into the healer role quests. As a summoner, it's an easy quest to pick up since you already have Scholar to 90. Sophie would have to shoulder surf, however, or would have to level up a healer if she wants to do it at the same time.

Quintus was willing to keep up the fight as long as he had HOPE that his "side" could still pull out a victory. When he ordered Jullus to lead that attack, he still had that hope. The Tenth Legion, as far as he knew, was still going to come to reinforce him so he had resolved to hold on and wait for them. Taking the Garlean Contingents supplies would have made it possible to keep holding out and waiting for those reinforcements. Only after Lucia relayed the message that the Tenth was basically powerless and would not be coming did Quintus finally accept the hopelessness of his situation.

100% agree. FFXIV as a whole honestly is the best story I've ever experienced. (Along with One Piece and FFVII) Nothing had such an emotional impact on me. Nothing had me cry & care as much as FFXIV did, except One Piece. This story is just something special. Lore, writing (especially HW, ShB and EW) & world building is top notch. And let's not even talk about music.

Thancred can held his breath over an amount of time, based on his class abilities. Therefore it made total sense that he was the one who gave us the ability to breathe.

Krile is a big part of Eureka and Bozja and I think Alexander? She was a star of more side content than MSQ.

As for the disowned scene. I would say that the dad remembers the twins only during their ARR days when alphinaud and alisae were still naive about the world. The mother made it clear the father had no idea what the twins have been doing all these years. If you remember the twins used their family name a lot during arr and would of cried back home if they lost it. Easily the least forceful way to get the twins back and quick. The ARR twins.

Quintus was easy to understand and well done, but not like an "OMG THIS CHARACTER!" That was definitely Jullus, and that was clearly the intention to me. I think Quintus' purpose was perfect, and things couldn't have realistically gone any other way. He was basically the literal and symbolic last of the old guard of Garlemald and his belief in what the empire was (and what it remained to him until the very end) wouldn't waver even through total annihilation, let alone a few Eorzean 'savages' being oddities among the life-long propaganda. Him and Varis were cut from the same cloth, and I'm glad they didn't make him suddenly have a change of heart. It would have been a mistake and weakened the foundation of what made Garlemald as a zone so fantastic.

FFXIV story has no equals in the MMO genre, so i’d say it’s one of the greatest RPG story period.

Interesting that Cob is leaning toward Hermes/Fandaniel as his favorite character, because right before Endwalker came out Ishikawa said Fandaniel is her favorite character she's written.

Loved this, and agree with alot of your points, I like what you said about the dragons being more nature than character, and thinking about it, Emet mentioning Merecydia , I feel that is where the dragons may shine as actual characters, cause if I remember correctly thats where a bulk of them live/lived, so it would be nice to see what current state of affairs are going on as emet mentioned.

What I've always found interesting was the amount of respect that Zenos shows us after his return from his first death. He could have, at any point, just overtly attacked us in an attempt to force us into a fight. But we seem to be the only person whose opinion matters to him, so he settles for attempting to provoke us into voluntarily engaging him by "respecting" our priorities for the most part.
