First partial day ride of the motorcycle tour (Noon to 9PM or so) doing Washington DC to LA on my Energica Eva Ribelle electric motorcycle VLOG. Pretty uneventful, only problems I had were caused by me seeing how hot and thus, slow to charge, that I could get the battery.
Track me on bluelane.io/RQbTxI (I shut it down at night so no robbing me in my sleep)

Love to hear that. I’ve had a rough two days, I think tomorrow will be much better. Really helps with morale to know people are watching and I’m not wasting my time trying to document it. Hah

There’s a reason no one crosses the country on a Ribelle. Lol. That “slow” 13kW charge after the first one. Wait, is this the first Energica crossing? Smaller packs can’t really make the jumps between charges without doing dangerously low speeds on the highway…

Just checked, David Ewert just did VA - CA also on a Ribelle.

I’m pretty sure I’m the second Energica, 4th stock (no chargers or fairing mods), and 8th overall.

They’re a bit of a hodge podge, you never know what you’re going to get in an episode. Day 3 I’m particularly not proud of. Hah. But I’m glad you enjoyed the first one!

Thank you, yes, today has been a little more eventful already. Just don’t look at the latest photo on the tracker if you don’t want spoilers. Hah

So many kind people. Besides the eTron driver that pretended he didn’t see me and let an 82 year old lady pick my bike up with me. Finally some content for the next episode. Hah Seems like a pretty mundane accomplishment really, not a brave thing. More a bored along the way for a week and wasting money thing.

@@ZeroFun brave in that you don't know if you'll make it to the next charger and IF the charger will work. Looking forward to following your adventure!

It only gets crazier. Hah. Yeah, you can make it to any charge if you go slow enough. :D And as a backup, I can bum 120v from someone…for a few hours.

You got cocky charging at 75A there 😂 good luck man 👍 you can do it
@ZeroFun

Turns out, it really doesn’t matter. Just don’t charge 2%-98%. That heats the battery quickly.

This makes me never want an electric bike, haha. Just did a very long trip with my Model Y, and realized how much I hate it for longer trips.

I met up with my family in California. Wife and daughter took the Model 3 from DC to LA. We went up to Oregon and back to DC together. If you time the charge breaks with food and bathroom stops, it isn’t that bad. For the motorcycle, I was FAR more than ready to get off when it was charge time. Especially when I was stuck in construction for hours. Just glad I wasn’t on a gas bike working a clutch the entire time. I welcomed the charge breaks. Got a chair for the return trip when I set the electric motorcycle cross country record, so I could rest a bit.

Zero Fun The downsides with my model Y, we’re making sure I had enough charge for morning activities. There were plenty of times, I had to go out of my way to charge it at 1-3am once I was arriving in location. Then head to my hotel or Airbnb so I would have to do that super early in the morning. Luckily, with the Tesla there’s very long range and supercharger times are low. On motorcycle trips, I love to constantly explore off the beaten path. It would be very difficult to do with an electric bike.

Wow. We always got a hotel with a supercharger or level 2 charger at it. Charged before midnight or when we’d wake up and unplug. (Level 2) You we’re arriving at a hotel at 3AM and supercharging? I can go over 140 miles at 55MPH. Side roads are usually pretty slow, if it were real rural stuff I’d be doing 40MPH and have literally 5 hours of power. I’d be more than ready for a CCS charge of 30 minutes by then. Or to plug into a level 2 for the night.

Zero Fun Not always possible to find hotels with chargers, especially in the middle of the country. Yes, I do lots of exploring and hiking. Lots of miles everyday! My year old model Y long range will do about 280-310 miles at 70 mph

How many miles in total are you doing? How long between each charge,what times have you planned for,ie, length of charging stops etc How many miles per day are you expecting to be able to do?
@ZeroFun
@ZeroFun 3 года назад
Just shy of 2,800. Distances between charges are about 80-105 miles. There may be one or two legs that are long, I can slow down and do 55MPH or so and probably do 120+ miles, depending on wind and hills. I have to be in LA by next Sunday night, so 8 more full days of riding. I’d like to put in some 500 mile days, if the weather and terrain would comply. Then have some more casual days when I get to Colorado.
