Outstanding work... While I personally study Astrophysics I'm highly impressed by the research and study Mr Lane presents here. His Book ( " The Vital Question" ) has been really eye opening and I totally understand how one could fall in love with this kind off Science. Abiogenesis & the theory of Evolution need people like him... These are important questions. Especially in these days of Exoplanet detection, humans deriving Biosigniture detection methods and the search of life in our Solar system @ Enceladus, Mars, Titan and Europa... Thank you for sharing these interesting lectures.

I think these new "thermodynamically-favorable" abiogenetic hypotheses by Nick Lane etc raise the possibility of multiple origins of life on Earth. A LUCA isn't really necessary - what if Bacteria and Archaea don't have a common evolutionary origin?
