Theory: you are Kevin's Pokemon, he fed you with energy cards to function. At one point he was playing Pokemon cards while you were fighting for him (with the console), and the power cut happened, that's you being put to sleep and Kevin took away three energy cards away from a confused but no good you. He then slapped you awake because his coin flip activated you. The whole story is told from your POV as his Pokemon.
