That's awesome! Where did you hear about SC? I played it on and off between 1999 and 2010. Never watched an E-sport until a couple years ago, when for some reason I woke up thinking about nukes. What a cool game mechanic, super risky but high payoff., and I wondered... do pros use nukes? As it turns out no, but that when I discovered Tastosis and I've been hooked ever since! Love that cheese though, super cool to see Mini win a game with scouts but still waiting to see that ghost.
and the exact amount of goons on it after the storm to clear it out and continue pushing down the ramp I am so thankful to have these guys still playing
if you look at the minimap during the final match game 2, you can see how Hero's hotkey for looking at his main is one pixel too high for him to notice the idle drone at the bottom the observer was so obsessed about lol
I literally just took a shower, about to fall asleep, suddenly i felt something, looked at the window and it was open, a sudden chill, i check youtube and its out, is this... SCBW chills?
"So nice to see Jaedong vs Bisu just like in the good old Days" wanted to write exactly that. It is really cool that Broodwar lives and old school top players like Bisu and JD are still playing + with Artosis and Tasteless commentary. It can't get better than that..
@@TommyStarcraft2 despite what people like Artosis think, that ‘Flash has no reason to play SSL, he has nothing to prove’, I’m fairly confident he’ll be back to tournaments. Top players like him are extremely competitive, he’s likely biding his time until he feels back to his best.
Barracks shouldn't be one of the first to get picked in the group selection Anymore. He's a real treat and deal. As long as the "senior" players keep underestimate him he'll continue destroying them. And as for Barracks he surely Love to be looked as the underdog as he takes off pressure and when winning it feels so much better. Barracks Best next gen Terran.
Well let's wait with this assumptions until Barrack starts to bring his own builds, and proofs he can still manage game when a need for adapt and strat change arise. So far, he has not shown it. After this evening, next time someone from the old guard meets him in Ro16, he'll get monkey wrenched from the start, let's see how he manages it.
StarCraft just makes me happy. I get the upload notification and I now I will have a great evening with 3-4 hours of awesome games, great commentary and sick plays. ASL/SSL is simply the best you can get!
Wasn't super high on the games up to this point, but this group was genuinely incredible. So many good games! Even the Barracks games were great; I like seeing good planning pay off. And the PvZ's all delivered.
100k views on some of these SSL videos. Only 15k on the AfreecaTV website. What you thinking when you cancelled Tastosis's live english casts from the studio in Korea?
Well most of their viewers on Afreeca are watching on the pro gamer's streams. All the pro-gamers are re-streaming the games and a lot of them have 10-20k live viewers each.
I don't think 100k views per video can financially sustain a live feed from the studio - just the extra tech, the extra personnel, the casters, the extra hassle... Even the casters' salaries alone are probably more expensive than what 100k views can make. Still sad they canceled ofc, just unsure whether it was sustainable.
@@DirkyDiggz They list their streams on the TL page, and there's often like 8-10 listed there during the SSL days. Jinjin translates a lot of their streams afterwards.
Afreeca doesn't care about viewers or if people re-stream the broadcast. The people who care are the sponsors as they want their ads played to a certain amount of people. But since Korean companies rarely operate outside of Korea, they don't care about foreign viewership. It's not like any foreigners have purchased HOT6 or even know what it is unless they've been to Korea. Also, you can tell they don't care about foreigners by the fact that they sell DOPE jackets & merch on Afreeca at the start of every season but don't ship internationally. I've been trying to get one since Season 7 :(
I think Nyoken and EonZerg are great but this season I'm waiting for the Tastosis casts for a change and I was waiting for group A what felt like forever LOL. ngl I did watch a game or two to tide me over. Won't be watching group B yet but tomorrow I'll be looking forward to it! Thanks for the cast in advance!
23:00 Zerg need to 4-pool more I agree strongly. Just from a first principles, theorycrafting approach, zerg starts with 3 larva which can be dumped into lings for a burst of early production but can't be dumped into drones any more effectively than other races (due to overlord costing larva and extractor costing a drone). So you need to use that advantage probabilistically in order to make the opponent play less economically for the other games when you're not 4-pooling. The optimal 4-pool frequency will equalize your win rate across your openings (otherwise do less of the less winning option and more of the more winning option) I would guess 10-20% of games should be 4pool
"Im literally the fastest I've ever been at 41, like i keep getting faster at the game too. And like yeah eventually I'll have like arthritis or some shit and I'll also die at one day guys so that's great." - Artosis 2024 S tier commentators, world class. Never change!
Damn...this group was heartbreaking. Jaedong and Bisu being eliminated was not surprising though, since Hero (Il Jang) and Barracks really put on a clinic on modern BW builds.
Sometimes I think Tasteless is just a mongo hulk protoss who breathes exclusively through his mouth, but then he says something like "Labyrinthian" and I'm reminded that he's the smart hulk with glasses on
4pool for zerg is something that a poker player would call "range". Not something you'd rely on or even expect it to work, but you must perform it time to time so the possibility of it happening hangs on the psyche of the enemy player, just forcing him to take the risk or take safer, less greedy plays to avoid it.
our finnish autumn can be pretty cold but goddamn i had no idea i should have taken a winter jacket on me when during workday i suddenly got the biggest chills
To be fair, this might be correct in some sense. Like in hypothetical a Bo100, maybe he would be the second weakest player. He basically won 2 out of 3 games with fantastic strategic preparation, and then in the final one, his opponent screwed up. He 100% deserved the win, but I doubt he'll be a top performing player going forward.
Thanks for your casting! Although I don't understand the advertismente inbetween, I like to watch them because they are totally different to the ads where I come from 😅 Edit: wow, I just had a look ath the apm´s in the last game. 550+ over such a long time, just at the beginning. Would be nice to have a keyboard cam from time to time!
Is there any situation in which mind controling a lurker would actually be worth doing? Anyway I love the way the Dark Archon just strolls right into the hydras not going a single f...
They are shouting a countdown to the cheer, like "3.. 2.. 1.." in Korean, and then " Fighting!" (They use their real names and not IDs). The groups are polite, so they take turns to cheer each player. This tradition goes back to at least 2009, from what I can remember.
