No other starcraft cast, brood war or sc2, is SO listenable without seeing the screen. Tastosis do such a good job painting the scene and keeping the audience up to date at the cutting edge of the action! Wonderful broadcast as allways. Thanks to the players casters and afreeca for keeping ASL alive and showing some phenomenal games
It helps that Starcraft's soundscape is so clearly descriptive. Like, close your eyes and listen to a fight, you can clearly tell what is fighting what, and which side is dying more. Compare that with Starcraft 2.
I have followed bw pro scene since boxer vs yellow and I keep getting amazed by the skill level increasing each year. This game is truly epic and im glad ive been a part of it for so long.
I adore Tastosis' passion for StarCraft. Only watched the first game, but you can really feel it through the cast. You two are so lucky that you get to do this for a profession and any thanks or support the fans give to you would never be enough to repay the dept we owe for getting so many of us through whatever we are going through at the time. When a new ASL English video pops up it really is something that makes the day better than it would have been. You, the team around you, and the progammers who dedicate their life to perfecting this art have my heartfelt thanks. It really is a privilege to enjoy your content and hard work. The effort put in by your individual channels is really showing and you should keep up the hard work being put into those, it only makes it all the more special when you cast together
It is really impressive the level of insight Artosis has into casting these games. Even in the very weird and awesome Z v Z a while back he predicted the tech switches perfectly.
Big up's to the actual game (SC remastered), the league (ASL), the best players ww, the castors (Tastosis), the map makers, the on location staff, the audience. Everything. SC is still the best watchable game.
this has happened once or twice before but the commentary is just a little bit more ahead than what we see. The result is literally a game full of spoilers instead of a game with Tastosis commentary and that is annoying as hell... Now I gotta watch this shit with the sound off. "that cannon gets cancelled" - cannon gets cancelled a second and a half later...
Either your editor doesn't care or it unnecessarily hard to sync up your audio. I suggest you actually do countdowns to the games (actual audio can be cut out), to make it easier to sync the games.
@@HasekuraIsuna back in the day we did audiocomments on wc3 replays. Viewers had to manually sync audio with the replay playing in the ingame viewer. Just countdown the timer in the beginning and you're good to go. Easiest thing to do. Replay is not up on patreon yet, so I just have to hope someone actually looks at the comments.
Let's get an Artosis vs. Tasteless bo3 showmatch, then have them do the Tastosis commentary on it. Maybe throw in some whining about protoss when he loses. Anyway great commentary. Some really great games in this group.
once again there is audio synch issues. around 1:00:57, for example, they read out lurker kill counst before the kills happen. I'd say at least half of the vids put out for these casts have audio synch issues.
The editing team just dont give a fuck. If you rewatch ur work, you will find it and change it. They just dont care…im just happy i didnt pay anything to their patreon
This game is 25 years old and you would have thought we have tried everything possible in this game. But stuff like long distance gas mining in ZvZ, that just came into the meta this ASL, still blows my mind. It's like "there's new tech in this game, 25 years after it's launch?"
tbf the carrier micro is only really useful against marines and maybe SCVs, and a tech switch into bio mid way into the game is generally not practical.
That's hydra bust man. It's broken as fuck. When you defend an all in without econ damage you're supposed to be ahead. But zerg goes all in, fails, and can just seamlessly switch to mid game.
@@utarian7 That's because it wasn't an all-in. You can clearly see that he kept some hydras at home and started droning before the hydra attack ended. It was more a pressure play into a light contain (that is, if Protoss defends appropriately).
@@yyyy-uv3po but whether it's all in or not doesn't matter, the point is if you commit to an attack that can kill your opponent straight up, and you fail, you're not supposed to play on without falling behind so much.
The Tastosis audio is desynced from the games in at least 3 games. I love you guys but you are making 10k a month from the Patreon, I don't think it's out of order to expect better production.
@@sebastianbean8226 They both have successful streaming careers on top of casting gigs every now and then, with at least one of them being able to afford to finance a merch business. I'm pretty sure they were not starving before ASL English Patreon, I'm sure they're not starving now. I doubt ASL paid them 10k a month to do the English casts. I don't have unrealistic expectations here, I just want the cast to be in sync with the game. That's all. It's not like they're doing us a friendly favor by doing these casts, they're effectively selling us a product and the product is faulty. It's ok to want to have your money's worth, don't be parasocial.
Honestly, I don't care that all those idiots were complaining previously that the videos take too much time, me and apparently many other people liked the previous season so much more. Audio was always in sync, the whole player group selection had subtitles as well as all the interviews and the little intermezzos with the players and Lee Hyun, which just adds insane amount of depth and personality to the entire Korean StarCraft community. Take a full month, three months, fkin half a year to release the videos, I don't give a shit - but please, PLEASE, bring back the quality that the previous season had.
@@sethmoyer It'd be awesome if they had a quick release and long release. Or just extra capacity to hammer it out quicker. I imagine that it's more complicated than we'd assume.
Audio mixing has been kind of off the past couple Round of 16's, last one game sound was desynced from the cast, this one casters are a few seconds ahead of the game.
Spoilers below I would almost wager Bisu did not have a plan going into game 3. Carriers 3 times in a row is not something he really does. It seems like over confidence or under confidence leaning so heavily on Carriers.
As someone who edits videos you'd be surprised. I've had videos work fine in the semi final cut, final cut, then once uploaded to RU-vid the audio screws up or the video portion screws up. Sometimes I'm also human and forget to cut, replace, or alter levels of something be it a special effect or audio or something else. Especially on a tight turn around time table. We also dont know how many hands this changes to get on afreecas RU-vid. Then if there is an issue they have to correct it pass it along and reupload. And based on the lengths of this that'd be like seriously a whole 6-10 hours alone of just uploading and then HD processing. That's before you also count the time needed to correct and re-render the videos which depending on the power of the PCs adds another 4ish hours. They also have to coordinate with afreecas admins to watch it privately too if they wanted to see the final RU-vid product since they seemingly don't have access to the RU-vid channel. Lastly about the patreon, yes some of those costs cover editing and wages but I imagine most go towards securing the rights to the tournament's broadcasts. Afreeca doesn't give them these feeds for free out of the goodness of their heart. I obviously don't have exact numbers but I imagine not even 1 months worth of 10k barely makes a dent into that cost.
@@fromryuk7785 They don’t pay afreeca anything. They’re making a product for the ASL channel. The editing is trivial work - it’s literally just audio recorded over a VOD. Any high school film student does more complicated editing jobs. One more thing: it’s funny you mention a “tight turnaround”. Bro, it’s a sporting event broadcasted live and they’re regularly 7-10 days late lmao
The sound and the video are NOT in sync. You guys really need to get this right because it's rather annoying to HEAR about things before they occur. Like, "Oh, there goes the observer" and three seconds later it dies. It's like a repeated spoilers throughout the whole game. Correction: It appears to only affect one game. The second one, I think.
Is there a reason Zerg doesn't hide their Defilers in Overloads against Science Vessel irridation in ZvT? against Irridation? Wouldn't the Overlord tank the hit and be able to pull back and drop safely before dying over time?
Yes there is. If something is irradiated and you pick it up it still takes damage. Also it damages other biological units inside that transporter. However if the transporter itself is irradiated the units inside do not take damage. However; however if it dies ofc units die
Or another answer if you mean preemptively hide them: probably to much micro. Overlords tend to go places where you do not want them to. It's additional two or three clicks.
@@maciejs2351 Yes, hiding the Defiler when seeing an approaching SV for example. You're right, more micro is required, but I do think there is some usage to protect those 1-2 valuable Defilers at an expansion with a Lurker hold. Keeping an Overlord there wouldn't be too hard. Early Irridations from an SK Terran build could potentially be wasteful if they can't get to the Defiler outside of the Overlord, at least until the Defiler is used and the SV irridates it (but the Dark Swarm would still be set down). But I didn't know the units in a transporter's proximity also get effected by irridation, which is very cool!
Well, then there may be another indirect reason. In ZvT you often skip overlord speed (unless the opponent goes Wraiths), you rush to hive for those defilers as they are essential. So you would start upgrading speed as you make defiler mound, and upgrade transportation after consume. The timing seems acceptable; however, 350minerals and 350 gas is more than 2 defilers and 10 zerglings for consume. I like your approach though and seeing as this season is pretty nuts when it comes to Zergs tactics we may very well see this trick!@@ianprivett9210
I really still hate the Zergling hands. I still wish it was fixed to the singular claws its supposed to be but I do my best to try to forget it instead since its never gonna happen.
Serious question but is the Protoss race suffering in BW like it is in SC2? Or is that just this season? I mainly follow sc2. Other than that, great cast. I love when they upload these videos, perfect thing for me to play in the background while I work
its suffering in general. last 10 asl protoss results have been awful only asl 5 was when they were winning alot because of maps. Terran is so strong at the moment, even without flash last 2 asl all finalists have been terran. Maps at the moment are terran favored thats why
ikr, and I don't see many other Protosses that can pretend to the ro8. T and Z have several young talented players, but P seems to be lagging behind these days.
been said obviously (top comment) but your audio is ahead of the video, spoiling everything before it happens. "this firebat is a hero!!" what firebat.. oh.. 3 seconds later
Does anyone know the name of the songs they play when someone wins? Example: when Ample eliminates Bisu its a rock song in the background. Anyone knows?
When it takes neaely 5 minutes before Tastosis starts describing the game... this is not your podcast guys its the ASL. Your genreal thoughts about the meta and your anecdotes about how the game has changed over the years are interesting, but should be kept mostly in berween games IMO.
I miss stasis Protoss. Like I swear that shit is better than this storm style. So many times bisu coulda broke Amples 3rd base with like 1 stasis the way they were clumped.

I really think the 2 base build up in TvP is outdated. T needs to force P to attack into them to prevent a third and do a good job stopping that. Leaving the P alone and trying to kill them with one push on 2-2 just does not work.
