For me, it can feel like I have a cold/flu because of all the prostaglandins released to stimulate the blood flow, it's the same immune response chemical that gives the redness and swelling to a cut, also pain, it's the type of pain that anti-inflammatory painkillers treat. I think it's also released when you're sick, when I felt achey and fatigued right after my covid booster it felt like just the first few days of a period, it made me realize how it's not just another day. Also, the prostaglandin release can trigger migraines--really severe headaches, with nausea and sometimes dizziness. So it's like having a fever with stomach pain and head pain every single month, and you're supposed to work and go to school and act like you're perfectly fine or you're "complaining." But when a guy is tired or sick they get understanding and are allowed to complain... Also, some girls have much worse premenstrual syndrome where they can get very exhausted and even severely depressed for a full week (or more) each month. For some it's lighter, often it's a medium amount of emotional exhaustion and hard to handle things. So the "menstrual" period is actually like half your life, 2 weeks out of every 4 with some kind of hormonal symptom causing you problems.

Males are so lucky, they don’t have to feel what we are feeling whenever that time of the month comes. It’s so painful that it makes you just want to sleep and not leave the bed all day. And it doesn’t end in one minute, we have to bear it for like 2-3 days until it isn’t that painful anymore.
